Yes, 5F 4585 would be a registration number for a US Army vehicle. The Marines and Air Force both used different numbering systems. If you need help with marking when you are ready to put them back on, check out my webpage for markings www.deltateamdecals.com , although not listed there I can...
My father's 313th ASA Crest pin still on his old Ridgeway hat, this hangs in my collection room.
Him wearing it in Florida during the Cuban Missile Crisis
Yep Dad was with the 313th out of FT Bragg in 62' and 63' but spent most of his time in Key West for the Cuban Missile Crisis. He spent a lot of time in the back of an M37 with a AN/MLQ-24 monitoring Cuban radar. Here are a few pics from that time period.
M37 on the beach at the Grassy Key...
That's cool to see another truck marked for an ASA company. Several of my trucks are marked as ASA trucks representing the ASA units my father served with. He was with the 226th ASA and 313th ASA in the 60's.
The red C goes on one side of the holder plate that locks into the top to hold all the number plates. To display the C for combined weight (aka with a towed trailer) you turn the holder plate so the red C faces out and locks the number plates in. To display without the combined weight you turn...
You can get a decal set to remark the bridge plates fairly cheaply from here; http://www.deltateamdecals.com/bridgeplate.html It's only $10 and comes with every number and the red C.
Was a little disappointed when I arrived on Saturday, there was not much going on, only a few vendors there and a few vehicles on display. Nothing like it has been in the past were almost the whole field is filled up. Didn't stay long, took a walk through and saw everything in 15 minutes and...
I'm planning on coming over on Saturday to see what I can find and I'm also planning on bringing a couple of my lighted M38a1 Jeep grills to sell. They are perfect for the man cave or garage wall of any MV collector.
Yep, I plan on being there with my M715 and I paid the extra to be in the display tent. I'll be hanging out around it all week, feel free to stop by and say hi.
Nope, that was me who bought the carb/manifold from you. Thanks.
I had a great time there and was able to pick up a few bits and pieces for a couple of projects I'm working on to finish before South Bend. One thing I still need to find though is 3 of the front blackout marker lights off the...
Want the most room? Ditch the spring ride seat for the old box style seat. I'm 6'4" 250 and have plenty of room in mine with the box style seat. I climbed into a buddies one time that had the spring seat, and it was way to cramped for me to drive. I would rather have the comfort of fitting over...
Looks like faded OD#24087 as it tends to turn a brownish drab color with 50 years of sun fading. That will look good behind either a M37 or M715 truck. As for trailer markings, check this page out. www.deltateamdecals.com They have marking sets in both paint mask and decal for very reasonable...
I would agree, that it was probably repainted with the forest green when it went through the depot rebuild in 73' and with all the changes happening around that time period on color and markings with going subdued it makes sense what you have found. I agree with you that it will look it's best...
Seeing that you are on the east coast, getting it from Army Jeep Parts in PA. might make for cheaper shipping. It is the same Gillespie paint that Rapco sells. Just be aware that the hazmat charge by UPS that both of them have to charge makes shipping pretty expensive. The hazmat charge is by...
