The plan as of now is to get down there with at least one of my trucks. Last year a guy had a bunch of M38a1 grills he was selling and we picked one up that the boy and I turned into wall art. We enjoyed the project so much, I might look to buy more of them and make a few up.
Thanks for the recommendation, I can help you with every thing you need and can make MP markings. We have been helping Steel Soldier members for years with their marking needs, plus saving them a little bit on the kits.
A lot will depend on the surface of the paint. If it is the flat CARC paint, then don't plan on the decals lasting too long as the rough flat surface just doesn't make for a good surface. If it is a smoother semi-gloss then you will have no problems. Cleaning the surface free of oils and waxes...
I would think it would be easier to use something like a Sky Trak telescoping fork lift and then build an armored box to go on the fork attachment. Parts would be a lot easier to find and maintain than a long out of production surplus vehicle. During this weeks event in New Jersey they had a...
Gillespie is usually fine out in the weather, it's the Aervoe paint that doesn't do well when left outside, it tends to fade to pink. I painted my M715 with Gillespie in 2004 and it still looks great today and painted my deuce in 2005 and it had to spend a summer outdoor while I built a new barn...
I'm going to agree with others on this on the parking bake. I have done it before as well but caught it before I got too far and ended up in smoke, but you sure could smell it.
4H 1420 is most likely the original hood registration numbers as it fits the pattern for a 66' truck so why add it in 2 spots on the bumper? Also DSPTBN is way too many letters for a bumper. Back in the day they were way more simpler about it compared to todays smaller markings. According to the...
I would guess it more as WIANG 32-I 132SPT (star) B- (order of march) this would be the vehicles place in convoy line up. If you need any help you can check out my decal site, http://www.deltateamdecals.com Spend a little time on google images and search that outfit and see if you see any pics...
From the TB 43-0209 from Oct. 1976 the two best looking candidates to make a pattern out of are the M548 tracked vehicle and the M656 truck. They are some of the only vehicles with a cab over design. It should be easy to transfer these patterns and add to them in areas that might be needed.
There is no rules against posting pics of you vehicle with the fake gun. I routinely take my M715 with a full metal M2 replica and propane simulator to all kinds of shows and parades and even come home sometimes with a trophy when they have a class for it. But it's funny because I call it being...
Thanks, Yes I can help you out with markings. Like others have said, to come up with a set, start looking at units and the time period you want the truck to represent. Then spend a little time on Google searching that unit. Start with the major unit and look for the sub units within the main...
If you need the connectors inside the light housings, it will probably be easier to just buy new lights. I don't think I have seen the pieces available seperately.
Yep putting some regular 16" tires on for the time being to move around should be fine. If you plan on making it long term, you need to use radial tubes instead of the stock bias tubes otherwise the tubes can fail. I've had 36x16 Swamper radials with radial tubes on my M715 since 2004 without...
I bought the soft top and rear cargo canvas years ago at a show or on eBay. I know WeeBee Webbing makes the soft top but I don't think they make the full rear canvas. The Gillespie #24087 definitely darkens with time. And also really depends on the lighting. On bright sunny days it looks more...
