Hi Norm,
This is the riser I'm using: https://www.etrailer.com/Pintle_Hitch/B_and_W/BWPMHD14005.html
This is the pintle hook: https://www.etrailer.com/Pintle_Hitch/Tow_Ready/63014.html
If you follow the hood release cable on the driver's side kick panel to the firewall there ~should~ be a black plastic cap about the size of a half-dollar just below it. Pull that out and a rubber plug should remain.
Now find the other side of that rubber plug in the engine compartment. It...
CARC in the engine compartment sorta says it was a M1009 at one time. Looks like a wrecking yard buy that was made drivable (I can't really use the word 'restored'). I can't tell from the picture but if there's a diagnostic plug under the dash that would also be a good indicator. EDIT to add...
That would be a tough picture to get; they're really only visible when it's completely dark outside.
No light you fit into that little hole is going to do much, I doubt you'd even be able to tell they're on if you power them with the headlights on. Probably the most interesting thing you an do...
If the GPs are powered off the big bus bar behind the aft battery, you did it way wrong. You want to use the little bus bar just above the GP relay as shown in the OP's pictures.
If your GPs are getting power from the little bus bar already, then something is wrong upstream. Follow the wire...
I've spent almost the entire sunny summer building a shed in the backyard (note to self: a PLAN makes the process easier and faster) so today I decided to play hooky from chores and take the wife out to the mountains.
I had two guns that needed shooting and/or sighting-in, so we drove up to...
Why 33s? Do you think you need them or are you going for a 'look'? The 31x10½ tires are stock for the M1009, and you'll have few problems (if any) keeping it stock. Not a criticism just asking. I'm been driving mine daily for five years and have done only PM and minor maintenance.
Like the...

There are a couple people on this forum that are antenna SMEs.
It was pretty hot here on Tuesday so I decided to drive my Jeep WK instead of my M1009 to work to have AC when I got off. Problem is the jeep was still connected to the M1101 trailer. The rent-a-cop at the base gate says, "Wow, cool trailer!" I told him thanks, and that they're free - they...
Back in the 80s the Air Force flightlines were crawling with Ford F-350 bobtail trucks. They were used to pull maintenance stands, lox carts, and other AGE around. I always wanted to get my hands on one and take the heavy back end off to put a tiny pickup bed on.
They were replaced in the 90s...
I came out to go to work this morning and discovered an 8" crack in the windshield. Too hot out yesterday (90°)? Not sure. It wasn't there the day before yesterday when I moved it.
Well, it might be good to get it replaced; the wipers didn't work so well with the pitted surface.
You cannot stop at the home center with this trailer and not get compliments. When I mention how much I paid for the $8000 trailer, $750 minus the $400 I got for the humvee wheels, minus the $300 I saved by picking up a yard of gravel (vs delivery) and they're left scratching their heads. :p...
