Finished?
I still have the 2nd differential to assemble. I am rotating that chunk 180° so I still have holes to drill out - I'm awaiting a diff gaskets in the mail to use as drill templates. I have not clearanced this diff yet, so if there are any other questions that I could answer for the...
ARB Install
Here's where the instructions start to get vague - reinstallation. Seems important, right? Well...
The instructions explain to drill a 7/16" hole through the housing and to tap it for 1/4" NPT. It shows a picture of this as well. It doesn't, however, give any sort of measurement...
ARB Assembly
The instructions with the ARBs are OK, not great though. They left a couple things out, though.
Anyway, assembly of the ARB carrier and differential gear was pretty easy. You will need to cook the gear in the oven to get it to fit properly onto the ARB carrier. 300°F for 30...
First off, this install isn't going in my MV - it is going in a project truck, but I thought others may benefit from a couple things I have learned.
Secondly, the truck is nowhere near complete yet, so I will not be able to give any driving impressions. However, having lockers in my truck, I...
so why would you ponder about putting a race trans in a deuce? the multi puts out 130hp / 300 ft-lbs... you sure as chit don't need a race trans to cope with that.
pretty much any 3/4 ton and up auto trans will handle that 'power' (term used loosely) just fine. ... and probably a lot of the...
the equalizer has three (3) terminals:
ground (first battery Negative lug)
12V+ (first battery Positive lug)
24V+ (2nd battery Positive lug)
there is nothing easier than adding an equalizer.
I got it done yesterday. I pulled it off and layed it outside-up over a bucket. I cleaned the o-ring well and applied a liberal amount of grease around it. I couldn't get enough pressure on the outter ring again, so I layed it inside-up over a stump (bucket was destroyed at this point). She...
All,
I'm posting on the 5T+ side since there might be more experience with these HEMMT wheels than on the Deuce-mod side, but dunno.
Anyway, one of the tires on my deuce has been a little low and I neglected to top 'er back off. Well, the other day I came home and it was flat. So when I...
i love how the shade-tree techniques and antiquated culture of scoffing at engineering design and specifications runs so rampant.
if "how we used to do it before new-fangled technology" was really the best method, then why would we ever come up with new ways...?
do some math.
it's been discussed in a few other threads about PTOs fitting on the Spicer trans; the short answer is that it is looking to be completely obsolete. therefore, it would seem as though your only PTO options are:
OE Winch PTO
OE Winch PTO with rear output (rare, hard to find)
Transfer PTO
...
i converted my PTO winch to hydraulic: Hydraulic Conversion of PTO Winch.
i used about half of the A3 parts - hydraulic motor, shaft coupler, motor-winch mount, and reservoir.
if i had not found the A3 parts, i had planned to fab or source a motor-winch mount and have a local machine shop...
as to one of your first problems, getting a shaft made to fit within the ~9" is not a problem - i had to get a 'yoke shaft' made to serve as my custom jackshaft. the operating length was 8-3/8". it costs $400 because of the high cost of the splined shaft (~$250 alone). but it just slides into...
the two front axles will need at least a mechanical linkage between them to keep them in sync. individual hydraulic circuits (one on each axle) will eventually, or quickly, become out of phase with each other, even with 'divider valves'.
it can be. it's been discussed a lot on here; best...
