you don't want to run the 4bt over 3200 rpm sustained; much more vibration in the 4bt than 6bt.
i would just go w/ the 3200 gov springs; it'll get you the rpm to get to the next gear and will save you from buying HD valve springs. you'll meet your hp goals with a 4bt. heck, in marine trim...
while I'm not a proponent of the 3053, the research that I performed concluded the same result that Tom is stating - there just aren't any MD transmissions with OD that are short enough to fit in the space left by either the AT545 or 3053.
every other trans mentioned thus far is likely too...
:ditto:
4.10 vs 4.11 have to do with available tooth count combos of ring and pinions of differing sizes (different axles).
two examples: 37 ring teeth and 9 pinion teeth = 4.11; 41 ring teeth and 10 pinion teeth = 4.10
as always, i throw in my vote for Ouverson's lockers over Yukons or Detroits - i can't prove it with any specs or firsthand comparative knowledge, but i whole-heartedly believe that the Ouversons will be stronger and more reliable than the others. Plus, Randy will always stand behind his...
agreed - that sketch looks sweet! i'm also aligned w/ Ron - maybe use 5T front springs for the rear or add air bags.
lots of thoughts, very intriguing...
If I am able to get a trailer far enough before the event, then I want to try and make this event. Are event tickets / camping spots sold out yet? If not, are they expected to?
Let's try the video. It's short, I didn't video all of the testing. It's weak (literally), I didn't video the 4 wheel drag for the sake of the yard.
Rather, all I wanted to demonstrate was the process and control over the winch.
Enjoy.
Soooooooo......
Imagine that... it works!!!
I still never got my last fitting that I ordered (it should be here Tuesday ). I got tired of waiting and went over to Cline's and pieced together an obnoxiously intricate arrangement of steel fittings to get to the suction hose...
Well, yes I do have a list of all the fittings that I used. However, that may not be a perfect recipe if different components, locations, and hose runs are used. All fittings and hose was purchased from Discount Hydraulic Hose; the pricing is good, however, most fittings are Chinese-sourced...
The attached spreadsheet was developed by a friend. The blue fields are required user data and the red is calculated data.
Let me know if you have questions, but it's pretty straight forward.
Edit: nevermind - looks like you're not allowed to attach xls. I'm sure there's a good reason...
For sure!!!
The answers should be Yes, The same, and Yes. Mainly, I'm after the 'safer' part; the hydraulic winch cannot be left in either Pay In or Out by error or default. Therefore, the hydraulic conversion is more condusive to safe winch operation by a solo operator.
Not really. You...
I'm thinking you're correct. Motor diameter is ~4.5"; it is located approximately 7" in from the inside of the frame vertical web with a total width of about 9.25" from the same location. It's hard to figure the top since the OE radiator is no longer there, but there needs to be about 5.25"...
OPCOM - check out monster truck footage; after long runs you can clearly see the pinion disc glowing bright orange. flames are also not uncommon. even though it isn't apples/apples give the speeds, rotating mass, and the 18:1 gearing in the axles, but the comparison is still there.
pinion...
I honestly think that you're going to be hard pressed to readily find a 20k lb hydraulic winch in the 'affordable' neighborhood.
I've got about $1600 in this conversion:
PTO adapter
PTO Pump
A3 Motor, stand, coupler, tank, filter
Valve
Hose & fittings
You can sell the winch PTO parts to...
