I would bet that 3/4 civvy springs are the same rate as 1009 springs. The 1009 uses beefier springs than the regular k5s. Just bolt the overloads on if you got the frame brackets from the donor truck.

I has 33000 on my 1008 when I started to notice the death wobble. The previous owner had replaced the weel bearings and steering stabilizer. The kingpin bushings were shot and the springs were a little sagged, and the steel kingpins were worn enough that new bushings would not seat on them...
I watched 3 trucks from Ft Gordon, GA go 2 weeks ago for 4grand each. 4500 for this one seems like not a bad price. I like the trans/transfer combo.

TI am spending the day helping a friend with his 1008 and am running into a problem. I left my copy of the TM at home, and the only internet we have is on my little phone. YAY!
I am having a hard time getting the glowplug relay to close. It is a brand new napa st85. I have good voltage at...
I tapped into the blue wire just outside of the card holder. The button is gounded through the steel dash plate under the column. I still use the card, but have the button as back up. The best of both worlds.

I would go with either a 6 inch lift and some trimming or 8 inch and be clear. For wheels, check out 4wheelparts.com for some steelies or desertrat.com has some bling wheels on closeout.
Are you going to run the factory axles and gears? 38's will be rough on the turbo400. I have 37s on my...
I bought a set of 2" spacers 2 years ago from National Tire and Wheel. They were really nicely machined and I had no problems with running 38" tires and 20" wheels on my F350.
These guys are the ones that build Eaton Wheels.

I have this same leak on my excursion. The seals in the front axle inside the carrier are needing to be replaced. The fluid leaves the carrier, goes down the axle tube, and gets blown all over your tire and wheel well. Check it out to see if the oil smells like gear oil.

I have 2 optimas in one of my 1008s. They work fine. I also have 2 interstate group 31 refurbs in another 08 and 2 of my 1031s. they work even better and were less than 100 bucks for the pair. My optimas were 150ish each plus the nice adapters...

I have been tinkering with one of my 1008s and It fires right up, runs a sec or two then dies. It then cranks over for 20 seconds or so to fire back up.
I figure there must be a leak in the lines and the fuel is draining back. The fuel filter is completely full before I try to fire it up...
I just installed one of Antennaclimber's new golw plug cards. It is awesome. It was the first time that I didn't have to use my manual switch to start the truck. The red LED is nice to see when the card turns itself on and off.
Just props for a great product and a great member.

I had the wobble in mine. At 40ish you could feel it a little and if you hit a pothole at 40 it was time to hang on or slam on the brakes. I took apart the knuckles and you could see the kingpins themselves were a little worn. i bought 2 rebuild kits from east Coast gear supply and you could...
I installed a set from Seat Heater from Heated-Seats.com - Relax, the HEAT is good for you! in my 06 Liberty Diesel. They were pretty easy to install and worked great. They were nice and toasty.

I jave a set of firestone airbags to go on my m1008. I have used them on other 3/4 and 1 ton trucks with great success. You can inflate them after you load the truck. I think they are the ride rite 2040 kit.
