    Tiny Tach is in!

The 6.2 has 1/4 lines. The DTL 1/4 is the one I used. I am running 37s.

    Tiny Tach is in!

You should be able to install this tach on any number of cylinders, as it reads the pulses going to the injector. The diesel has to have either 1/4 or 6mm fuel lines. I don't think I want to go 65 or 70 to check the rpms. It would be in the neighborhood of 3 grand and I only want to hit that...

    Tiny Tach is in!

    Tiny Tach is in!

I have had a diesel Tiny Tach for months now and finally got tired of looking at the package on my dresser. 30 minutes later it is installed! I hooked it up to the #1 fuel line and it is reading 650 rpms at idle. It reads 950 at high idle. I can't wait to hit the highway this afternoon to...

    Recovery Suggestions

I bought one of those 250 dollar winched from 4wheel parts and mounted it to the trailer deck. I toss a battery in the back of the truck and use it to pull the trucks up onto the trailer. By using an axle strap on the front axle, it is a very quick pull. While picking up the 1031's from...

transfer case or transmission problem, help with diagnosis

It sounds like the govlock grenaded. I would replace it with an Auburn Gear Limited slip. The auburn uses cones to lock up and eventhough it is not rebuildable, I have never worn one out in my jeeps or trucks. You must use Spicer or GM posi additive in the diff, but I like the amount of grip...

    Alternator problems solved

I see a million posts about alts not working and have read them all many times. My 1008 would show yellow on the volt guage, but the truck has run fine the last 3 or 4 months. When it wouldn't start the other day, I was surprised. Both Alt lights come on at startup and go right out. I have...

    Yoke Play

It sounds like it is time to take it apart and see if the pinion bearings are still good. 1/4 inch is a lot of play. I would assume that both bearings are bad. As long as the pinion has not walked into the carrier and broken any teeth, I would put new bearings in it and try to get a little...

    M1031 rear driveshaft

I won a couple of M1031s from Warner Robbins. Of course, all of the driveshafts are bent from forklift bites. I am wondering if the rear driveshaft from a 1008 is close to the same. I know both the 205 and 208 were slip yoke cases and the length of the case is very close. My plan is to...

    Rear drive shaft slop

Detroit lockers can have up to 1/2 of a driveshaft revolution of slop in them and still be in spec. I had a customer's jeep that has a full detroit in the rear and a huge amount of play in the driveshaft. The engineers at detroit said it was all cool. It sounded horrible though.

What have you done to your CUCV today/lately? - Part 1

Installed a Retrosound stereo with knobs! 3.5" dash speakers and 4x10s behind the seat. The GM speaker brackets dont fit well with the rifle rack base. I need speakers more than a handy rifle, so in they went. Painted the dash pad and door panels flat black. Made door lock/unock things...

    Differential id ?

It is the 8.5 inch ring gear. If the gears are too rusted or pitted, new bearings won't fix your growl. Ususally, the growl is from cutting a new wear pattern in the gears after they moved slightly due to a bad bearing. Check the teeth on the ring gear. if the top edge has a sharp feel to...
