for a front axle, yes. for a rear axle, this is true as you pointed out, but there is still a mileage increase by preventing the rears from 'scrubbing' and fighting each other while driving and turning.
no.
not really.
depends; do you want more and reliable horsepower? if so, then yes. i turned up my LDT to (i'm estimating) 175-185 hp; it ran a lot better........ but it ain't chit compared to 350+ hp from the 5.9 Cummins that's in there now.
i'm just sayin'...
running a custom 24V alternator and 100A Vanner equalizer - happy as can be.
as noted before, just because the equalizer is rated at xxAmps doesn't mean disaster if 12V is pulled exceeding that amperage. all it means is that the equalizer will only equalize at a certain rate and will have to...
looking great!!!!
what was your total lift? do you have any tire lug to fender corner interference during partial turn at articulation?
just asking because i do with 6" lift; i need to clearance the lower fender corners some.
nice. [thumbzup]
was that 7 cfm at rated rpm, idle, high idle, etc?
but you're completely correct; it will take multiple electric pumps to match the cfm of a mechanical unit.
as you and others pointed out, the rest of the system (accumulation) can affect the overall performance. i think it can be done...
the flow rates of the OE compressor have been posted up on SS before; i don't remember them off the top of my head, but 10 cfm sounds real high.
however, 'Zuk's point is the same as the one i made earlier; it'll take more than one electric pump to match the flow of the mechanical pump.
it's...
of what's been done, in 'top' order:
Cummins / NV4500 swap
Hydro-boost disc brakes
Hydro-steered
Bob'd
Lifted
1600s
Locked front & rear
Fully sand-blasted and re-painted
Fully re-gauged
Aux driving, rear work, and reverse lighting
Still to do, in chronological order:
Hydro-conversion on front...
i think you'll find that the opposite is true. speaking to folks that own dually pickups as daily drivers (me included) will tell you that an unladen dually has horrifically bad traction when it's wet, snow, or icy. heel, i've been stuck in my own yard w/ my 2wd dually due to the grass being...
i agree that blocks are usually just bolted in place. however, i wanted to offer to the conversation that with a bit more design, blocks can be used quite reliably.
i don't think that blocks must be welded for them to be held in place solidly. rather, i think fabbing a traction bar is more...
crap... i thought so, but i can't find any of the emails. aua
edit: found an email with a couple specs -
Hi Travis; Scotts Fans offers 24volt cooling fans in the sizes you requested. Pricing/discounts depends on quanity purchased.
Quotes are for single/(1) fan purchased. 16" fan...
sorry, i know it's not apples/apples; but you're saying that i will spit a block...?
i disagree - design and construction can go a long way. i'll submit that my 'blocked' deuce has less axle wrap than a bobber w/out a rear block.
i copied this design from my 460'ed Bronco that i have rear...
Chief is correct about the 'detuned' 6.5s replacing the 6.2s. the only thing i'd add that may differ from my experience is the time table. i was in a maintenance co. at Ft. Stewart from '02-'05; even as early as '02 (and maybe before that?) we never put a 6.2 into a HMMWV, they were always 6.5s...
