EDIT: could either one of y'all (CARNAC or emmado) send me more specific details on where this is being rebuilt? I'm idly curious since I've spent a lot of time in the Rhinebeck/Red Hook area in the past.
I usually stop in Rhinebeck, NY (12571) to visit family on my way from Boston to ATL.
Here is my route: MapQuest Maps - Driving Directions - Map
I90W from Boston, across the NY state line to the Taconic State Parkway
Taconic southbound to Rte 199 for Red Hook/Rhinebeck
199 to and over the...
CARNAC, it just so happens that I do the round trip between Boston and ATL regularly (4 times a year) now--and my route takes me through NY, too.
If you would like to make something happen in the future (I will be making that trip regularly for the next two years or so), let me know.
I would...
Fuel filters and air filter will be your biggest contenders. After that kind of drive, I would definitely go ahead and acquaint yourself with changing all three fuel filters since you probably cleaned out a lot of gunk from your fuel system with that much run time.
I'm not sure about servicing...
If you search for "Seabee" you might get a bit more results. Use the Google search function; it's much more effective than the regular search bar. It's at the bottom of the drop-down menu when you click on "Search" along the bar at the top of the page.
Also; do you want pictures, or are you...
I doubt removing the bed is going to bring your truck below 5,000 lbs, if that is the requirement. The bed assembly only weight about 500lbs, and the manual quotes the truck at being 5,700 lbs empty w/o winch.
If it helps, there are 6 bolts holding the bed to the frame. I think four of them are...
Technically speaking they are NDCCs... by the way, do you have a good source for them? My truck is running singled 11.00x20 NDCCs and I want to dual it back out.
I think it should be rather simple. The master power switch on the M37 is simply a binary switch. Either everything's on, or everything's off. If you have a continuity checker/multimeter, you could probably figure it out.
I'd look at my M37 for you, but it's currently 1100 miles away. Hopefully...
That spare lever on the transfer case is for the tank pump PTO (since it was a tanker truck). If the PTO is still there, you could probably sell the PTO and make some spare cash to fund your brakes.
Hopefully some folks whom are more knowledgeable about the tankers and PTOs will chime in.
It's a Reo only if the data plate on the dash lists the manufacturer as "REO." That just seems to be the standard convention for things. Your truck is made by the maker of the truck, not the maker of the engine since there was such a wide variety of engine manufacturers. (For instance, my truck...
Drill and tap is one way. Use super-hard cobalt drill bits, starting small and working your way up.
Somebody welded over one of the holes in the block for a water pump bolt on my truck. We put the pump back plate on with 2 of the 3 bolts and used the pump to mark where the bolt should be. We...
That won't exactly work... the starter button is directly above the accelerator, making it just a bit more complicated if you're not used to it (as I was when I first got mine running)
