sick and tired of crouching down under your deuce to drain each tank individually? Sick of muddy shoulders and strained backs? Me too, but I wasn't keen on the remote drains I've seen, mainly because of cost. Hey, I'm REALLY cheap!
so I made my own:
I first took out each petcock...
these pics are from last week, but we're getting an even worse storm as we speak. I was born and raised here and have never seen 1 storm that dumped as much in one day as this, let alone two weeks in a row. It's usually dry powder, not this wet snow we've seen <img...
the airhift has been bouncing around in my truck for a few days now, I'm ready to pop it in
looks pretty straightforward and I can access everything without unbolting the case
how much fluid will dump out of there when I take the front half off?
What's the best manual to use?
Just plain...
I had read that when the manuals were made, fluid specs were much different. So is there a definitve list of what oils, coolants, gear lubes, etc. are acceptable for use in these trucks? I don't want any of this energy star compliant crap they're pushing these days <img...
so I read all the suggestions in making the instruments easier to see at night and have some observations/questions.
One is, make certain your gauge faces are clean, that was causing some major distortion at night and helped at least 25% in visibility
Second, try screwing your little bulb...
I'm looking for a few new tubes and flaps but am hitting many brick walls. Local places all have to order them with no expected delivery date, and/or won't touch the wheels at all. The surplus places I've contacted don't have any at the moment. Anybody got a lead on a couple tubes and flaps...
just checking in, it's been a while. Hope you all had a wonderful Christmas, I did- I'm on vacation <img src="emoticons/icon_smile_approve.gif" alt="Approve"> Well, actually it's been spent moving, but I've got to drive the deuce a lot lately and that's always fun. Catch you later,
I did the biggest bonehead maneuver today- I left my engine running for 2 hours!
Oops, forgot to turn it off after spooling the turbo down and my idiot coworkers didn't have the courtesy to let me know, they thought it was supposed to be running <img src="emoticons/icon_smilie_bitchin.gif"...
I saw one of the specialized head bolt tool,s on eBay- are they worth getting, are they hard to find etc.?
I made on just like that for my Ducati head bolts by bending a cheap wrench, but am worried that really wouldn't work on the deuce- what do they need to be torqued to?
well, it was nice being able to store my deuce at my place, but alas we are moving and the new neighbors won't approve of my truck <img src="emoticons/icon_smile_angry.gif" alt="Angry">
looks like I need to find a storage, which greatly inconveniences me more than anything, no more hopping into...
I was flipping through the local equipment trader and saw a decent price on some new 1100 20 tractor tires- very directional industrial farm tires.
Would these theoretically work on the deuce? What would the traction on the street be like?
The only drawbacks I see are they are not DOT...
hey all, well, I just got my 3/4 impact and 3/8 air line in anticipation for another flat tire <img src="emoticons/icon_smilie_bitchin.gif" alt="Bitchin">
no, just kidding, but I did get them. So my question is whether the air system on the deuce can get these lugnuts off? My 1/2" impact had...
so, needless to say I am unimpressed with my horn, and I've already had to use it a handful of times. It's loud, but WAY too high pitched. I want something that sounds more like a semi horn, or even a train horn.
I attempted to "modify" my horn with what little I had- I put an echo chamber...
they had one out at the Toys for Tots drive and MAN, was that thing a beast. I'm not a big fan of the latest military toys cause they're just too high tech for me, but I would have loved to hop over the ropes and climb up in there and drive off! This thing was towering a good 12 feet, a true...
dang! How'd I already get a flat? I was doing a pre-trip inspection and found the right rear with a sheetmetal screw in it. Luckily it was the owrst tire out of the whole set of ten, if that's any consolation. <img src="emoticons/icon_smilie_bitchin.gif" alt="Bitchin">
then I discovered you...
thanks for the heads up on the usa 6x6 pinion brake. Daniel over there advised that the pinion brake's not a good choice for straight braking on such a heavy vehicle, just as a good offroad brake. But, I will be getting their parking brake setup.
I aslo noticed the front axle is a bad choice...
I found a cool site and couldn't resist posting the pics. The 10 ton is without a doubt my favorite military vehicle of all time. I'd kill for a 10 ton, but would probably prefer the M125 cargo over the 123 tractor.

When I installed my desplined flanges I noticed no real difference in driving, except that it didn't want to slow down as much because of the reduced drag <img src="emoticons/icon_smile_approve.gif" alt="Approve">
but, when I removed the rear rear axle shaft as well, that made a HUGE...
how do I know it's working? I had a hell of a time starting the deuce this morning, it was about 9 degrees out and took like 10 tries with the heater supposedly on.
What exactly does it do and how can I tell if its working?
