Went out for another run. It did much better this time. Still didn't air down, too cold to mess with. I can see where chains would make it pretty unstoppable. Did a good job of packing down the snow base on my lane. It was only about 10-12 degrees when I started off. Truck started pretty...
Nice!! I'll have to try again aired down. Our normal snow is the light powder stuff, but these first few storms can be kind of wet and heavy.
Roger that, 3". Still like the snow (good thing I guess). I can do without the sub zero temps. The summers here are perfect though: sunny, high...
I wish we had a Menards around here! Went to one near my folks' place in Ohio...Wow, I could spend a lot of money there!!
I'll have to run up to Ace tomorrow and see what they have.
I have a brand new winter front that came in the extra parts for my truck. No mounting clips, though. I was told I might be able to make wire ties work to mount it.
I just looked at hose on McMaster-Carr. They have a bunch of choices in all price ranges of course...
So winter basically happened within a couple days here. We went from 55F and sunny on Saturday to -20's by Wednesday. First real snow fall, and it was over a foot.
My first experience with the Deuce in winter conditions. Here are my observations:
She started right up. It was around 32F...
I did have to laugh at the graphic that came up when first showing the truck. It showed the engine as a multi-fuel. I was sad to see them cut it too, since it looked pretty nice and complete. I'm half afraid to see what they'll do to it in the end. But like any train wreck...I'll have to watch.
I'm anxious to see how mine does. Haven't started her in anything below 50 degrees so far. It's been near -20F the last few nights. We also just got about a foot of snow. Going to run her this weekend and see how she does. She starts immediately every time so far. No idea if the flame...
My list of mods was: remote brake resevoir, locking door handles, spin on filters. All I have gotten done is the brake resevoir. Other fixes and PM keeps pushing the others back. I want to keep it as stock as possible, but make it safer and easier to live with.
Super singles were on the list...
Just caught it on a replay. Looked like a nice A3. He bought it for $8,000. I kind of cringed when they talked about an "awesome" paint job. Will be interesting to see what they do and what they end up wanting for it.
Typical buy and flip car show on CNBC. I was flipping channels and just caught the last 10 minutes and saw they were bobbing a M35A3. They didn't show the outcome on that episode. I missed the beginning. Didn't know if it was worth watching when they replay it. No, I don't have a DVR. Tech...
I get the others and see the path for the fuel to get into the crank case. How can fuel go from the flame heater to the crank case? Since it's on the intake wouldn't it have to go into the cylinders and leak down past thing rings, or am I missing something.
Could the piston in the HH be stuck? I've read about taking out the center screw and putting a dowl or something in there to see if it goes up and down while the engine is being cranked.
So, dumb question. How do you know if it's working? Mine doesn't leak. It's going to start getting mighty cold around here. Would be nice if it actually works.
So, remove the compresser belt and run it and see the difference? Is there a rebuild kit/procedure for the compressor? I have alot of blowby. My compressor is a bit loud.
Replaced a pinion seal on the front axle. Luckily it was the one on the front of the axle that doesn't drive anything, so it wasn't a bad job. The 3/4 Harbor Freight impact spun the nut right off. I couldn't believe it, I was able to just pull on the flange and it came right out, didn't need...
Installed the driver side boot a THIRD time. I put the old inner clamp back on. Here's a pic of the old one and the New-Trash one.
On the bright side, I can remove and reinstall the boot in about 15 minutes now.
