In general, just turning the pump up 1/4 turn doesn't supply enough fuel to really notice a difference in power between 10 and 15 psi. from my experience, and I am sure others may chime in with theirs, power seems to peak at around 12 psi. Anything above doesn't seem to make any difference...
Okay, sorry for the long delay. Still not completely done, but it is drivable. Had some valve body issues and software issues for programming the XFC box.
We did end up getting an aftermarket turbo. It is a custom one from HTT, 65,63,14. Spools really nice and keeps the EGT's and smoke...
If you are swapping head gaskets, go with the .10 thicker gaskets. I prefer Fel-Pro over Victor. I generally get them from rock auto along with head bolts. Head studs are not necessary if you keep your boost down. I have done plenty of 6.5 turbo swaps, in fact I did three last month, and...
David, I like the Desert Tan, black wheels, and the interior idea we talked about awhile back. It could be because I am tired of doing OD green or woodland camo myself. Change is always good. Thats why my current M1009 build is getting, well will be when I get time, a different color scheme as...
I have used the LMC kit and have it on my 85 M1028 as well. It does help, but the biggest noise reduction I got was when I installed the floor insulation and new mat. I have the Lizard skin sound control spayed in the cab and in the engine bay. All I hear going down the road is my turbo (I...
The adapter plate uses the ford 6.0 starter. There is no room to run down the passenger frame rail since it is boxed in. Normally you can squeeze 3 inch between the cab, frame, and engine, if you take your time. Thats how I run all my 6.5 turbo swaps on the 6.2's. Since it is boxed in, I...
Check the under dash starter relay. Unplug the connector and see if you have 24V at the red wire. Then, turn the key to the crank position and check the purple/white wire for 12V's IF you have the correct voltage at both wires, use a wire to jumper the red and purple wires. IF it cranks...
I know the Cummins swap has been done many times over, but I though I would share my current build. It is at a stand still for now. I have a few turbo conversions to do on a m1009, M1008, and M1028 so it will be a week or so before any more progress is done.
The truck is a 1985 m1028 that had...
The Detroit in the stock CUCV rear end can be installed in any 14 bolt with the 10.5 inch ring gear, 30 spline axles, and open or standard differential. If the rear end has the factory limited slip, a new carrier will need to be purchased to allow installation of the Detroit locker.
5208 is the correct part number for the seal and bushing. Timken or National P/N 2043 for the rear pinion seal will work. If you need a repair sleeve for the yoke, SKF's P/N is 99193
The Dually has Gillepsie CARC 383 substitute as its base. The single wheel M1028 has their current issue Olive drab. I can get a picture of a whole truck sprayed with the 383 when I get back to my other computer.
