    Deuce fuel line hose

I'm home now and can take pictures to show the rest of the story. The clearance for the shaft on my non-winch truck doesn't look too bad. I would say you could re-angle the fitting towards the frame based on what I see on my truck.

    Deuce fuel line hose

Not sure if it makes the difference you're looking for, but the line on my originally-non-winched 109 doesn't lead directly to the cross member, it curves back behind the steering gear and follows the frame channel before crossing. I haven't gotten to fitting the PTO and shaft yet. I took this...

    Show your 24087 deuces!!!

Here's another winter environment pic. The white star on the door almost makes the whole truck disappear. Its like camouflage!

    Fuel Density Compensator by-pass

Just adding some info to a pertinent thread. The deuce's first multifuel engine, the LDS-427, did not come equipped with a FDC. The FDC is a feature that was introduced with the LDx-465 model. Here is some horsepower and torque data using multiple fuels with the LDS-427. Theoretically the...

    m109a2

The lower exhaust was used with LD-465 engines through to the 465-1-1C version (see pic). My truck I'm pretty sure is a 109A3 that came with a LD-465 and it has the brackets for the lower exhaust. Although the data plates on the 109 box is covered by paint I found the wiring inside of the...

    The FDC and Cold Starts

Wasn't sure if this was common knowledge, but when there's zero fuel supply pressure, the FDC control goes to a "full rich" position to provide maximum available fuel delivery during cranking for engine starts. So...your engines with the FDC hooked up might start better in the cold than those...

    m109a2

According to the 1965 version of the -10 TM, the M109A2 designation was for multifuel engine powered--either LDS-427 or LD-465. M109A1s were gasoline engines. I think the A3 designation was due to the box design change, but I don't have the documentation reference off hand for that. As for...

Are there AWD all the time deuces?

One note about the Sprag test, you should warm the transfer case up to operating temperatures (this is in the TM), ie drive it around some, etc. The test on mine has worked when warm and not when cold.

Here's some pics of the Sikorsky Skycrane they have, I always liked that helicopter. I've never seen one up close and didn't realize the crane operator sat facing the cargo hold. Check out the winch.

LDS VS LDT and the real differences

I get the impression Continental engineers were just on the cusp of Multifuel engine development when the LDx-465s were introduced. Here's a snippet from a SAE paper written by a Continental Aviation & Engineering employee to explain changes over the LDS-427 model.

Long term sunlight exposure vs 24087 Paint

I took this picture at one of the museums on Ft Hood a couple days ago, it clearly shows the fading effects of the punishing Texas sun on 24087 paint over time. This side of the vehicle probably hasn't been turned away from the sun in years. The vinyl white star has shriveled up and reveal the...

I just got back to Maine last night, just narrowly missed the snow storm. The day before I went back to get some more M37 pictures including the shelter. Its an S-144 Electronic Equipment shelter, looks designed for the M37 looking at the data plates. Still many many pictures to post!

Here's a Russian truck I became rather enamored with. The interesting thing about it was the two rear axles had independent drive shafts. It also had a winch tucked up in the frame rails but the PTO shaft to the winch was missing.

    FT HOOD Museum Pics

Indeed, the drive around base to see all the current armor is nothing short of spectacular! I met my brother's boss, a major, who claimed Hood was the largest military base in the world. The pictures I took are from both museums, I might be able to get inside a motor pool of the current stuff...

    M109/185 Van Body Antenna Mount

Is there an Army-correct way (TM instructions, etc) to mount an antenna scoop bracket to a M109/M185 Van Body? I may be able to pick up a scoop bracket while I'm down here in Texas and am wondering what I should look for and where to place it.
