    Turn Signal Issue

I thought of grounds, but would that effect the flash speed? I thought that would just change the lights actually working or not? I did find this quote from a good thread - "Another MAJOR issue with grounds is the metal tab inside the tail/parking lights. It corrodes and ends up breaking off."...

    Turn Signal Issue

Hello, My truck has developed an interesting issue with the turn signals. All bulbs are fully lit, some are new, and the flasher module is new with a HD mechanical one. The system seems to blink too rapidly - not a hyperflash, but in between the hyperflash and a normal flash. Any thoughts on...

    Transmission Options?

Now this is the kind of options that I'd be looking for! Like I said, my transmission is mint right now, but I figure if the sucker ever goes, maybe an upgrade is due. An option to consider... They made a million of those trucks so I'm sure they are out there. -Will

    Transmission Options?

As in a transmission from a Class 8 type truck. Our Mack R Model has a 9 speed and it runs out great, and effectively shifts faster than the 3053a. No synchros there. -Will

    Transmission Options?

Yeah...It is way tighter in an M35 than you would think. You never know if there was that one super rare perfect size transmission haha -Will

    NV4500 install in stock M1028?

Update! Sorry that it has been years since this post was started, I wanted to wait until the swap was "proven" before I go spewing nonsense and causing trouble for people. I have had to make some minor changes since the install, but overall it has been flawless so far. I will make an actual...

3LJ-319 Whistler Turbo Rebuild - Thrust Bearing Direction?

Update: I used 2000 grit sandpaper and took off the slightest amount, leaving the lubrication grooves still visible, and the turbo is perfect now. Way tighter than before with zero play around. I will report back on if it actually works haha -Will

    Transmission Options?

Howdy all, I have done some searching on the forum and there are some answers, but not really directly related to this topic. I have no issues with the current transmission in my A2, don't plan on doing anything crazy...but are there any drop-in-ish options for a real OTR transmission...

3LJ-319 Whistler Turbo Rebuild - Thrust Bearing Direction?

Pm'ed you. Thanks for the help...The main bearing is too long by the slightest amount. Will keep the thread updated with what I determine to be the fix. -Will

3LJ-319 Whistler Turbo Rebuild - Thrust Bearing Direction?

Ok, I have the turbo assembled correctly, but now there is a new problem. When I tighten the nut to 170 inch pounds, the turbo completely seizes up and is unable to move. I have checked a million times and I cant see any issues. Any thoughts? -Will

3LJ-319 Whistler Turbo Rebuild - Thrust Bearing Direction?

I think that TM only has the 4 series turbos, not the one for the 3 series turbos...I checked for the manual listed about the 3 series turbos, but that manual seems to be missing.

3LJ-319 Whistler Turbo Rebuild - Thrust Bearing Direction?

Effectively, all you need is the turbo rebuild sticky in the Deuce part of the forum. It is at the top of the page, but it is also the link at the top of my thread here. Very easy process, just stressful because it is such a precision operation. My shaft/impeller were already marked from the...

3LJ-319 Whistler Turbo Rebuild - Thrust Bearing Direction?

Thank you! Yes the thrust plate (with the half brass/half steel) So the sticky turbo thread is correct and you should be able to see the brass part with the flutes when the turbo is assembled, and the steel portion should be facing inward (towards the exhaust side of the turbine) -Will

3LJ-319 Whistler Turbo Rebuild - Thrust Bearing Direction?

Hello, I am rebuilding my turbo right now and I found one discrepancy in the turbo rebuild process. When I disassembled the turbo (which looks like is has never been done) the thrust bearing was facing the brass part towards the inside of the turbo (where the main bearing is. However, in this...

    MEP-015a Low Voltage

Thanks for the input! My biggest worry was if the transducer and the SX-460 can coexist. I think you are right that it really shouldn't make any difference. The wiring diagram for the MEP-015 seems to indicate that the same 4 wires that went to the original VR can just be hooked up right to...

    MEP-015a Low Voltage

Alright so the problems start immediately... I got the sx460. It already will require modifications to fit into the control box. Does anyone have any insight on wiring this sucker? The wiring would be very simple, however it has the voltage transducer for the gauge. Does that have any effect...

    MEP-015a Low Voltage

I prefer factory, but when parts become ridiculously expensive and look worse than the one that I have it may be the right time to move on to newer things. I think it should have a very acceptable service life, considering people have used them in much much larger generators than 1.5kw. I...

    MEP-015a Low Voltage

Any thoughts on just ditching the 1960s electronics and installing an SX460 clone? That seems to be the go to method for both military equipment guys and other generator replacement. At $30 vs $130 it may be a good deal... Even though it is Chinese, electronics have come a long way. -Will

    MEP-015a Low Voltage

Haha! I will repeat the test and confirm that was the value I was talking about. Will keep you posted. Will check for available replacement. -Will
