Haha yeah once you get into the lift world, everything changes. My truck is stock, and it is a massive can of worms if I get into changing the rear suspension. So for now, modifying the driveshaft is actually the easier/cheaper route.

I will have to confirm if that was the exact one I am referring to. It may be though - I swear that the TM I saw and was following said "voltage should be 25v....but the voltage regulator is only bad if there is a reading of 0v." Meaning it doesn't mention any value slightly less than 25v. I...
Hello,
I have an MEP-015a generator that has always ran fine and puts out plenty of power. However, it has always put out slightly low voltage, even if the voltage adjusting knob is at full adjustment. The voltage is about 115.5 at no load. I went through the military TM and checked out each...
Measured the driveshaft to your instructions - I need the driveshaft lengthened 7/8". I called the driveshaft builder but they were closed today...Will call back next week and let you know.

10-4 thanks for the thoughts. Based on what you see there, should I bother doing fancy measurements or just tell the driveshaft shop to add 1 inch in length (or more if you think I should do more) I do load this truck down quite a lot, I don't want that bottoming out. Let me know what you...
NP208 - I think it is way further than it needs to be. Check out this shot
If the shaft is too short, what are my options? Should I SYE it (if possible) or just see if my driveshaft shop can lengthen the shaft? Or is there a longer yoke available that give the engagement but I wouldn't...
Hello,
Quick question - After swapping to my NV4500 (over a year ago now) I did notice that the driveshaft was slightly (maybe 1/4 to 1/2 inch) less engaged into the transfer case. I feel it is now engaged too little, and I think it is starting to wear on the output shaft bushing (there seem...
The wrench I have is a custom made one, and they guy before me used it to change heads on another truck he had. So it has been proven to work before...
I started to disassemble the truck yesterday, got a bunch of the little stuff off. The turbo shaft bearings are shot, so I'm going to rebuild...
I will look into those numbers....I am certainly not opposed to using better fasteners!
I haven't either in this case, but if the ARPs are available, then I will get them
The wrench came with the truck when I bought it....it is almost as if they knew the gaskets were bad ;)
The wrench I have is....custom...to say the least haha
Never done the heads on my vette but I have on other vehicles... What are the differences I should be aware of? The deuce uses head studs...do they need to be replaced/are there ARP head studs available ;)

It sounds like it is coming from the back of the block, which seems to be a weak spot in the engine. There is *a lot* of seepage haha ever since I got the truck. It is so much I can wipe off the data plate and within one drive it is covered up again. Designed or not I think that is too...
Hello,
So I am pretty sure that the head gaskets are toast in my M35A2. When I got the truck there was plenty of oil seepage surrounding the head area, even after I wipe it off, it always came back. The truck is turned up pretty well, only peaking at 11 PSI boost and will only peg the pyro on...
I tried looking at the only thread I could find was for a slightly different model CAT engine. But it looked like it worked fine minus the need to make an adapter plate.
Intercooler mount would be interesting. Do you think an intercooler would still be required? It wouldn't be optimal, but...
Hello,
I am not planning on doing this, just throwing around some ideas. Would it be possible to swap a Cat 3116 engine into an M35A2 and have it bolt up to the stock 3053a transmission? From what I can see, the 3053a uses an adapter to go from SAE 2-3, so as long as the Cat is within those...
Similar thing happened to me. Truck was driving fine on 100 miles trip on highway. As I neared the destination, my buddy behind me noted that the smoke content increased. I noticed the truck seemed to spike EGT way faster and only make boost at high throttle application, but still made full...
I think that might be acceptable....my front axle has the exact same play you are describing, whereas the rear axles do not - but I think that is because of the axles being linked together.

All thanks to you guys on Steel Soldiers!
Haha! Good call....I'm glad it turned out to be a simple fix. I certainly don't need to create any more work for myself on this truck :D
Yeah my front pinion needs new bearings, too. Definitely check those jackshaft bolts....and like was stated before, it is much easier to do from the cab after removing the panels than from the ground!
