    Driveshaft/Axle issues?

I am using an air grease gun. It is definitely pumping grease into the zerk and into the u joint, as it is very clearly purging from 3 out of 4 seals. Not just coming out of the zerk. I am the manager of a farm so I definitely know what you mean when you say it "feels" like it goes it. In...

    Driveshaft/Axle issues?

Drove it again today. Everything is good as usual (no bad noises or vibrations) so I will replace those bearings and see what happens...

    Driveshaft/Axle issues?

Well I totally agree with that, however, I know you are not supposed to trust the dash but my dash says 70k miles - that is a ton for a deuce compared to most others if that is true. Knowing that the upper pinion bearings can be problematic in general, I wouldn't be surprised if the bearings...

    Driveshaft/Axle issues?

Any hints on pulling the cap style u joints? It seems pretty seized into the yoke... I'll pull the shaft and check the yoke nut. How tight is tight? IIRC the TM says 300-600 ft lbs...

    Driveshaft/Axle issues?

Totally agree on the simplicity of the axle. I just wasn't sure if a bearing/race swap was a feasible idea without a complete overhaul. Like I said, if I didn't actually feel this slop today, you would never know there are no sounds or any other sign. I will order the bearings and see what...

    Driveshaft/Axle issues?

Very true, however, the only play is just that side to side. Gears seem fine. Meaning it is the only real problem with the axle I think. My truck definitely isn't the only one that has had this problem I don't believe that for one second. I've heard that the upper pinion bearings are common...

    Driveshaft/Axle issues?

Different Axle! That is the rearmost rear that had the metal in it. Everything seems tight with that one. The frontmost rear axle is the one with the excess play...

    Driveshaft/Axle issues?

Hello. Long story short, my deuce has been having drivetrain issues. First it started with finding metal in the rear axle (still haven't messed with this yet) Second, the driveshaft vaporized as I was going down the highway. Took the parking brake with it. Put a new unit in and it works...

    Master Cylinder Copper Washer leak

Looks good. What are the specs on the plumbing o-ring you used? I don't want to reinvent the wheel when yours seems to work very well.

PA - Spring 2016 Rausch Creek Steel Soldiers Rally

Thanks, I am home safely! What a mess. Driveshaft vaporized, parking brake assembly vaporized, spare tire had hole punched into it, fuel tank has huge dent, frame is dented. I got home last night at 3AM - Note to everyone; A 2000 F350 Mason dump 7.3 ZF6 with a tri-axle trailer can haul a...

Soooooo I have a deuce at the 78 Quakertown exit with a driveshaft that has left the building. Anyone want to bring me one haha

    Master Cylinder Copper Washer leak

I agree, but I think it helped. You could see massive imperfections in it. Stop gap solution at best, though. I know I always replace the crush washer when doing a brake hose or similar, but how many "crush cycles" can a copper washer normally take? Would an Oxy torch be too much, or just...

    Master Cylinder Copper Washer leak

Thanks for all of the great responses. The annealing idea is an interesting one. Might try that out haha I may have slowed the leak down to a very small rate, still have to check. I tightened the cap literally as tight as I could make it. Still need a new crush washer though....I will cross...

    Master Cylinder Copper Washer leak

Let me know if this works, but my copper washer was literally "new" after me lapping it on sandpaper. Would sealing the threads with Teflon tape or RTV help? Will

    Master Cylinder Copper Washer leak

Hello, I recently installed the brake remote reservoir kit, and ever since then the master cylinder cap has been leaking at the crush washer connection. I have cleaned the mating surfaces and even completely sanded down the crush washer so it has no imperfections, yet it still leaks. I cannot...

PA - Spring 2016 Rausch Creek Steel Soldiers Rally

It will definitely get dirty, but normally there is only about one water pit that we go through that is like 25 feet wide maybe a foot deep "clean water" not really mud. Not really a problem, even in a stock modern jeep. There are bypass routes, however.

    MTA Swapmeet 2016

Bring it! I want to see how other people did their swaps. I still have NP208, it would be interesting to see the 205. Will
