Yesterday I was re-tightening the lugs after finishing up the hub flip and I used the hand throttle to push the idle up a little to help out my impact gun. When I finished I pushed the throttle back in and the engine died( no stutter, just instantly off). Cranked it back up and it idled fine...
Today I fixed the incorrectly installed heater plumbing on my deuce. I currently do not have the heater installed (project for another day), but my coolant filter is plumbed in the way a heater would be (it will be in parallel w/ the heater if/when I get around to it). According to this PS...
I am going to be building a headache rack to go bewtween the bed and cab of my deuce. I feel pretty good about welding mounts to the bed itself, but welding/drilling the frame makes me uneasy. any thoughts, or sugestions?
I am hemorrhaging oil from the return line on my turbo. Anyone know the specs of the hose? I tried having it matched locally and wasn't particularly successful.
What size are the threads for the vent line on a deuce MC cap?
( need to go buy the stuff to make a bleeder during lunch today)
Also, does anyone have a prefered order for a complete flush and bleed of the deuce brake system?
I would highly avoiding Helen Georgia if you plan on arriving at Unicoi on Saturday for the rally. If your directions have you turning right from GA75/17 on to GA 356 to get to Unicoi it will probably result in your having to deal with... stop and go traffic/stupid pedestrians/ horse drawn...
I may need to move a non running truck from Richmond to Atlanta. It is a flatbed that is slightly smaller than a deuce. Any favorite companies/suggestions?
I am about to rebuild/ replace all 6 wheels cylinders and replace all the soft brake lines on my deuce. I plan on doing it in stages (one axle at a time) will I risk damge by removing all brake fluid then leaving the sytem "open" untill I finish (a couple of weeks)?
any tips on how to "button up" a vehicle in need of intensive work so that it won't be worse a couple of years down the line when I have the time/money to deal with it?
doing a little bit of plumbing on my deuce's breathers and have a question...
If I plumb into the air filter housing would I be connecting to a low pressure area? (bad enough to pull gear oil out)
Obviously it would be worse on the turbo side(inside) of the filter as opposed to the mushroom...
how "loose" should the C shaped clips that secure the bottom of the brake shoes be? they were tough to get off, but now I can easily put them on & take them off w/o tools???
Gents...
I just got the front axle apart(not touching the chunk today) and the driver's side of the housing was at least half full of grease behind the oil seal. anyone seen this before? I have a sneaking suspicion that this is why the vent is fouled up.
OK here is the real...
What all will I need parts wise to "freshen " my front axle?
so far the list includes ...
2 boots
2 outer clamps
2 inner clamps
2 inner axle seals
2 hub seals
2 inner bearings
2 outer bearings
brake cleaner
grease
gear oil
what am I missing?
EDIT
as things come up I'll add them here
2 tabbed...
Ok guys trying to get a headcount for the rally and get a hard count on who wants to do some primitive (free, no facilities) camping near (less than five miles away) from the pavillions. Please vote once for each person in your party....
working on my wheels for the upcoming switch to 1100 20 tires and hub flip
I used my pressure washer sanblaster on one and a needle scaler on the other( I touched up both with the blaster yesterday. Hit them with some ospho today (get some on you and you'll know it's working because it tingles)
