I read the DOT regulations on what lights are required for commercial vehicles.
It seems that both my M927 and M931A2 will need a top-cab-mounted three-piece amber identification light.
Additionally, my M927 is over 30 feet long, and will require amber side lights.
I have two questions...
I already have two 15,000 lbs forklifts. But there are places where they cannot go, or heights they cannot reach, soft ground, uneven terrain, etc. And in those places a wrecker would have been ideal, this is my current thinking. I can see how a wrecker could pay for itself in just a couple of...
Thanks! To me, both the boom, as well as the winches, are very valuable. I have a couple of questions.
1. Is the 20,000 lbs the hard limit? Meaning what will happen if I try to lift 21000 lbs? Is the crane hydraulically limited with a relief valve or some such?
2. How much of the capacity do...
I often do scrap metal projects.
All last week, we had to work pretty hard, at an old stone factory, removing 12+ ton cast iron stone planers. That place had so much stone dust that floor was completely impassable for my regular forklifts. We were lucky that they had adequate bridge cranes. And...
Yes, I have another semi truck, so I am a "trucking company" already, we try to comply with all of that.
Additionally, I wrote a program that prints out DVIR's that are prefilled with all particulars, such as days, driver's name, truck/tractor name, trailer name etc. All that the driver needs...
I am going to go and register my M931A2 semi tractor tomorrow and I will use it for commercial use, such as hauling scrap metal and equipment to nearby scrap yards.
My question is what plate to get, as registrations and HVUT get expensive with higher plates.
Specifically, does it make sense...
Thanks. So, in a good, normal case, with air pressure, I should see:
1) Engage off -- tire and shaft turn easily
2) Engage on -- tire and shaft cannot be turned by hand
If the switch is plumbed improperly, the tire and shaft should not turn by hand regardless of the engage switch position.
Right?
I would like to test my M939 series trucks for this condition of all wheel drive being engaged at all times. I did see that I need to jack up the front (easy, I have a forklift), but I am not sure what exactly would be the test to perform once the front wheels are up in the air.
Thanks to all. What I did today was: start all trucks, get them to pressure and temp. Then operate 6WD switch, brakes, put them in forward and reverse, throttle the engine a little bit, operate brakes some more, drain all tanks.
The two 5 ton trucks that I plan on keeping for my commercial use, will need to pass a DOT inspection.
One is a M927 and another is a M931A23 semi tractor.
I would like to know what are the known pitfalls or areas to improve, in order to pass a DOT inspection.
The truck inspection shop I...
I have a firm belief that for the kinds of trucks that we own, just sitting around with no use at all, is a bad idea. Kind of like for people to have no exercise at all. Valves gum up, brakes get stuck, batteries lose charge, etc.
So, it would seem that it is prudent to give our trucks a...
