Ferretboy, if you have time and possibility could you measure with a tape measure what the distance is between center pivot and top of chassis / cross member?
The other dimension I am hunting for is the dimension between the cross member of the bed and the top of the frame
so that I can...
Yes they help a lot.
Wow that looks like new... Did you restore that or was in that good of a shape to begin with.
So now I have a question.
In the second picture .. what is the vertical location of the pivot point relative to the top of the chassis or below the bottom of the pivot cross...
Wow. That is interesting.. Did not know that some of the flatbeds came with pivots. Thought that that was only used on radio and other box set ups. ... Hmm. Anybody has a bed like that laying around?
Nice. Would love to take a Ferret out to my local outdoor coffee shop. That seems to be nice size vehicle to still drive around in on a semi normal way.
Is your 404 a radio truck?
Yesterday was nice. Put the front caliper and two brake hoses back on.
Pulled the rear wheel and indeed...
With some post to post searches at benzworld i found some pictures post from "truktor" searched for him over here.
Either way, thank you.. funny enough the pivot in the previous post does not look exactly the same,, other truck or model?
The Ferrets are beautiful. It is funny, as a kid I had a matchbox ferret and mog 404 troop carrier. also a bigger 6 wheel amphibious french vehicle.. hmmm.. have to try if i can find that back and see what it really was.. do you mean you have others beside the Ferret?
Johan
Very Nice,
My story with an M4.
When I was a kid around 1973 we spend vacation time in Zoutelande and Westkappelle in the Netherlands. There was a Sherman M4 on the dike as a war monument. On one of my walk exploration adventures with my small French bulldog, Sjellie ran under the tank and...
Haha, actually the 58 made it first trip on its own power across my lot ( 100ft) to make place for flu419 coming in. It was neat, One tire empty with a flat spot, no brakes, fuel tank loose, batteries tied on the battery box lid with a rope because the batteries are to big to fit in the box.
I...
that someone would be me, I will start a new thread with the transmission problem somewhere next week. It arrived this morning at 7.30 and rolled nicely of the trailer.. It is cold here in the NE and a wind is blowing so no work on it yet.
Hi folks, I am looking for some help.
Looking for pics how and where Mercedes located the the pivot point of the radio box.
I found this picture on the web.
It looks like that the cross member rests on top of a normal bed support? Are these the battery cable I see on the right in the...
This morning the flu419 arrived at 7am. It is freezing today so back inside on the brake job for the 404's..
Then TIG welded the parts together.
So this is the female m12x1 to male M10x1 for the sloppy fit[thumbzup]. This gets mounted on the axle side.
The wheel side is male m12x1 to female...
Good evening folks. Wow. Ferretboy , that is scary.. All my other MB stuff is diesel but i am contemplating going without distributor or points.. The bad weather and business around the purchase of another FLU419 kept me busy today. The good thing was that to make space for the new machine that...
Thank you Ferretboy, only did prep work today, cleaned brake cylinder, removed the rear brake hoses from an old 300D I had sitting around. Needed those to make the M12x1 to M10x1 adapters. What were you digging into when you encountered the black widow.
You are to kind .. restoring... it is more...
I have not heard from patrol yet and unfortunately do not have his number. I have a trucker in the area that hauled the two 404 out of California and is now getting the little bus for my camper experiment on a 404. He is coming thru massachusets this day so I hope we can get something going...
Thank you Ferretboy, I had an inkling that this was not a pleasant spider. Indeed Google confirmed my fear, Going to wonder if the rear wheel have similar darlings. The front brake lines to the wheels are indeed shot, The other open to the extend that I can see thru when I straighten the hose...
Just to follow up, these are the pics I was able to glean from the web.. Are there two of those? How do the other two points
look?
What is the vertical height relative to the top of the frame and center of pivot point. Is it welded to the frame or bolted?
Does anybody have them laying around...
Tennmogger, Just noticed that you have a 404 with radio box. Do you have by any chance pics of how the box is mounted to the frame. Not a whole lot of good images around where and how the mounts are.
