Anyone headed to Barstow for inspection soon?
I won a M35A3 and as I'm 400 miles away, I'm hoping that someone can give it the once-over to let me know if I need to trailer it, or can take the chance on a self-recovery. It's my first EUC, so I've got another month plus before I can pick it up...
John,
I just bought one on GL. Waiting on the EUC clearance but have been researching transmission options. Can you talk a bit more about your 6-speed conversion?
Cheers,

Tony, the issue is 2-fold. 1) the lip of an 8-bolt wheel is designed for a bias-ply tire and will not properly secure a radial tire. 2) the wheel is rated for something like 30 psi max. Radial tires typically run up to so psi.
Do you need the plates that go over the boxes and the high-back seats bolt to it? I have one or two of those - or do you need the box itself?
Cheers,
Clarke
Great vid, one question:
Was it just me, or was the front axle not locked in the last part of that video - looked like the rears were spinning and the fronts hardly moving?
Cheers,
Clarke
A 218 in the Hummer would require different driveshafts, and would be a step down. The military pulled all the 218's and replaced them with the AMG242HD t-cases - stronger/better and smaller.
Actually come to think of it, the 218 might not fit with an A2 fuel tank - anyone try it? I seem to...
Body number is stamped into the body at the base of windshield - in front of the a-pillar frame - right in front of the windshield gasket - about 8-12" in from the edge of the truck on the flat part. Hard to see if the truck has been repainted several times.
Hopefully your number matches your...
Ah, your the lucky guy that got the truck "WITH WENCH"! Good price if it comes with a comely wench! :-) Was $1695 your closing price? I tried to capture all the prices right near closing - but the site was acting wonky.
Cheers,
Clarke
WHOA,
The HMMWV bias ply RTII tires - on a HMMWV 2-piece rim, WITH beadlock/runflat is designed for use without tube. A bias-ply tire on a rim designed for radials, or without runflats in the HMMWV wheel is a very bad idea as the bead can roll-off.

Clarke
