Guys, forget the "Personally, I think yes or no.....", your OPINION is not the deciding factor here. What matters is what his truck is rated to tow. There ARE 3/4 ton pickups rated for towing loads in this weight range and, to be sure, the manufacturer's ratings are on the conservative side. My...
For max cooling especially with a smaller A/C, you want to mount it as high as possible. An A/C unit would add a lot of weight to the door, making it harder to use the door and over time spring the hinges creating more problems. I'd suggest mounting the A/C high up in the front of the box, over...
Not to rain on your parade (pun intended) but the typical soft top Deuce leaks like a sieve. I admire your enthusiasm, but you'd better plan on two extra showers a day if you pick a soft top Deuce as a DD. My suggestion - find a new house without a HOA, get a full sized Deuce with hard top and...
Did you re-time the injector pump after installing the turbo? Turbo and non turbo engines have a different timing spec. IIRC, turbo engines are timed to 20 degrees BTDC, I don't have a clue what the non turbo timing is but it is not the same as a turbo engine.
Pulling off your mushroom cap and blocking the intake opening works also.
"C" (whistler) turbos have a tapered "snail shell" shape to the exhaust side. "D" turbos have a wider, non tapered exhaust side.
Here are pictures of both, "C" on the left, "D" on the right.
Don't forget about the in tank pump. If that is working right you've got 5 psi or so all the way from the tank to the IP. No vacuum in the Deuce system as designed.
1. IMHO, NDCCs suck in the snow.
2. I don't think ANY vehicle (except for maybe some sort of extra high ground clearance vehicle) is going to bust through 3-1/2' of snow. That snow is going to be up to the TOP of a Deuce tire! And the drifts are going to be even deeper. There will be too much...
Right at the top of this page is a box labeled "Resources". Click on that, then select "Technical Manuals". You will find all the Deuce TMs there. Download what you need and save to your computer.
Re: RE: Anyone using these?
Check out WHERE???? Every time I see a posting mentioning Deuce wheels on ODIron I try to find them without success. Can't find wheels in the catalog listing, can't find wheels or tires in the search function. Where the heck does he have them hidden????
Think about this for a minute. You have ONE pinhole leak in your air tank and you want to fix it. Doesn't the fact that your air tank has already completely rusted through in one spot make you think that PERHAPS the inside of your tank is pretty well rusted?
I'd err on the side of caution and...
Chevrolet Dealer. IIRC, the engine is basically a militarized version of the old 232 cu in "Blue Flame" straight 6 cylinder engine that powered untold millions of Chevrolet passenger cars and pickup trucks. Engine parts should not be too much of a problem except for a few specialized military...
Re: RE: Insurance What To Do
State Farm does. Collector's insurance on my Deuce is about $150/yr for full coverage (MI insurance is relatively expensive) and they do not care about indoor or outdoor storage.
IMHO, the gladhand connection is NOT the best way to go. I have one of the original military gladhand setups and it does not flow a lot of air. The reason is that there is a lot of plumbing and fittings between the air tanks and the gladhand which restrict the air flow so you get pressure but...
RE: pics
Tell me more about the rims and tires on that beast. My M125 wrecker runs 14:00-24 tires, and most look like they came on the truck new in 1957. Gotta eventually get some new tires for the beast. I'd like to single out the rears too, so I can run street legal width. Any chance of some...
If you really want a heavy duty battery disconnect, try s fire equipment parts distributor. Most every fire truck or ambulance is equipped with a battery disconnect. Most fire/ems vehicles are equipped with two batteries also, and the fire service disconnects usually have "Off", " Battery A"...
