RE: Re: RE: Re: RE: Help - M125 Wrecker Boom Winch Level Win
Thanks all for the help. I did find the PS magazine pages but missed the view of the "A" frame on the last sheet.
Now, does anyone know of a good source for the boom shipper support pin, NSN 53150-00-052-0110, PN 10899366? The good...
Re: RE: Re: RE: Help - M125 Wrecker Boom Winch Level Wind no
I can't seem to find that one. LOGSA does not have issues that old on line, and I cannot seem to locate in the "PS Magazines" resource library. Any hints?
Re: RE: Help - M125 Wrecker Boom Winch Level Wind not on the
Can you be more specific? I went to the PS Magazine website, a search for "article M543" only returned an article on radio mounting kits.
Do you have a screen name for John Winslow or other contact information so I can get ahold of him? BTW, my front winch is not stock M125 or M816. Whomever did the conversion used the winch PTO to run the wrecker hydraulics and added a 45,000 lb hydraulic winch on the front.

Mine idles nice and smooth so I think the carb is OK for now. It is only at road speed that I get some misfiring, which I suspect is due to having an ignition coil inadequate for the power needed for the engine. It would be nice to have the info on where you got your carb rebuilt (and an idea of...
Re: RE: WTB M816 Wrecker Boom Winch Snatch Block
I couldn't find either "Beltfed" or "Austin Webber" on an Ebay sellers name search. Do you have any contact info for him or a link to a current listing of his on Ebay>
I want to buy a M816 Wrecker Boom Winch Snatch Block for the three part cable arrangement as shown in the following photo (photo courtesy of No.2Diesel)
Does anyone have one they can sell or suggest someone who might have one?
Thanks, Lee
I want to buy a M816 Wrecker "Crane Capacity" Plate and the four plates which mount behind the hydraulic control levers in the crane operators compartment (the Rotate, Crowd, Winch and Boom Up/Down plates), the ones shown in the following photo.
I've tried the usual suspects like Saturn and...
Where did you find the replacement carb? I'd be tempted to buy one just to have a spare on hand if I needed one. Don't know about the governor, the tach is broken and I suspect I need to replace both the cable and the tach.
I'm glad I was able to save it too. Since there was only 552 M125s...
As you can see from the photo of the rear crossmember, the Arty trunnion was secured using a flanged tube on the trunnion and six 1" diameter or so through bolts. The Arty trunnion and pintle hitch were exchanged by removing a 2-1/2" hex nut from the forward (in vehicle position) end of the...
I'm up for that, the 2 pulley block winches too slow for me anyhow (seems like it feeds in inches per hour), a single pulley block should run up and down twice as fast. But does the single pulley block have the weight to spool the cable out without backlash?
My two pulley block is plenty heavy...
M125 Wrecker Artilliary Trunnion
Last set of pics for today.
The M125 was designed as a heavy artillery prime mover. It was equipped with an artillery trunnion instead of a pintle hitch. The trunnion stuck out too far to fit on the lowboy, so the good ole boys at Highpoint had to take it off...
M125 Wrecker engine accessories
Here are some close ups of the air compressor, generator, voltage regulator, and oil filter cannisters. Note the OF cannisters are upside down like on a multifuel, but they must have an anti drain back feature built in. I get 60+ PSI oil pressure as soon as the...
M125 Wrecker carburetor
Here are a few detail shots of the carburetor and air horn. Sure hope I can find someone with the skills and parts to work on it when it needs rebuilding! I case you can't tell, I'm a relic of the real old days. I cut my teeth wrenching back when Hollys and Rochester...
M125 Engine Pictures
Had time to snap a few pics of the M125 Wrecker today. Here are some engine compartment shots. That engine is HUGE! Those valve covers must be over 3-1/2 feet long! I meant to place a yardstick in there to show the relative size of things but forgot. Also note the air...
RE: Re: RE: M125 Wrecker has a new home!!!
I'm hoping to have it ready for the Clare show. It will cost me $200-$250 in gas for the round thrip there though!
Re: RE: 1979 5-ton - on demand 4-wheel drive
With the sprag setup you will NOT have front wheel assist unless the sprage senses a speed differential (i.e., wheel slippage) between the front and rear axles. You should hear the air activation every time you shift between FIRST and reverse, all...
