Ya I'm hoping to get everyone a bit more involved which definitely includes myself. Just got my truck fixed and am interested in going wheeling the weekend after next.
Ok what i did was i took the ring off and pushed the boot all the way on passed the groove which would be towards the knuckle. then i installed the ring just barely threading the bolt. next i painstakingly pryed and massaged the boot back towards the groove. i did find a helper at one point in...
ok im 90% complete on one side but i cant seem to get the boot back on. my trouble is the clamp ring the holds it to the knuckle. its the most frustrating thing! how do you get the boot back on the knuckle?!
Thanks. Also to clarify what I'm trying to do, I'm trying to remove the encased seal assembly from the axle housing and not the seal from the seal housing. Thanks for any tips.
How does one remove the encased axle seal? Tech manual isn't clear on this final step. I've tried seal puller, slide hammer, pry bar, etc. Thanks for suggestions.
Ps. Still looking for grease suggestions.
Looking for Wheeling Partners and Car Show Attenders!

armynurse, Im looking for someone to go wheeling with in the near future once all this rain clears out and my leaks are fixed. If you would have any interest let me know. Don't wanna risk getting stuck by myself with...
Im sure there is a thread out there but i cant seem to locate it. At present my main question is the size of the hub bearing retainer nut?
Im working on a 84 M923. What started out as a boot replacement turned into a seal job due to oil in the knuckle. Thanks
Only thing I can think of is that your getting some sort of pressure "turbulance" and its kicking fluid around in the res. Ive seen this in cars and can be linking to problems with the steering rack. in your case the gear box or assist ram.
Is this rebuild kit for the nhc250 pump? and does it...
The vintage air bracket is a total rip off. Make your own out of bar steel and a various collection of engine brackets that you can get from your local pick a part salvage.
