Over the years I have noticed something about the different CUCV's I've come across. Undercoating. Some have it, some don't. I don't know if there is any ryme or reason as to why this is, but I'm guessing it was done at the unit level and probably moreso on northern region vehicles for rust...
On a 1009 I just picked up, the transmission forward gears work well but when I put it into reverse, the tranny slips and the truck will hardly move backwards. There is no abnormal noise. The fluid level was about a quart low so I topped it off and still the same prblem. The transmission is bone...
Thought I'd share some before and after pics of the 5K genset I picked up this year. It was complete when I got it from GL (Great Lakes, Il. base). It came with the grounding rod and fuel pick-ups and pick-up extensions for 2 cans. It actually worked as received, although the battery was shot...
Check out this M105 trailer on GL. My guess is that these were added for increased flotation, although it is a clever way to carry the spares...lol

Hiya boys. I just got back from hunting. I can't believe all the posts in just 20 days! It's going to take me a week of reading to catch up! ;) I must say I had withdrawels not being able to access the site.
We had a successful trip. I've got some great pics to post soon. We didn't get the snow...
FYI. I've got a couple 3kw gensets (60hz) that I'm refurbishing, and the glass sediment bowls needed the screen and rubber seal replaced. I found a replacement kit at Tractor Supply Co. (TSC). They are a perfect fit.
Appl. is for Allis Chalmers, "P/N 0237063, screen & gasket kit for fuel bowl...
Anybody familiar with these units? How do they work? What kind of gas runs them? Can you tell if they are complete? Is there a griddle under the cover or a tub?

Any members near FT. Meade in MD? Couple trucks I am interested in, and am wondering if anyone has been there and inspected the trucks that are currently up for auction. They look complete from what I can see.
Also, if I did win one, would anyone be available to contact if I ran into trouble? I...
Sorry, no pics. I pulled off a short 'harness' from my 1009 that runs from the postive bus bar to the negative bus bar on the firewall in the engine compartment.
It's about 3-4 inches long and has an eyelet for mounting each end to the bus bar. It's almost like a ground strap, but there are 3...
Need the rear tail lights complete for my M101. Memphis has them (composite), SUPER EXSPENSIVE! I'd like the larger, later style. Metal would great, but composite is fine.
I'm sure somebody has a nice set laying around.
Who else besides Memphis would carry nos?
Thanks
I'm restoring an M101 and upon removing the layers of paint on it, I found the yellow, circular weight class marking on the right hand side. I couldn't make out the number on it, but want to put it back after it's repainted. What is the standard number for the 3/4T M101 trailer? Thanks
It's been a few months but I can see the light at the end of the tunnel. I'm currently putting the interior back together. I'll post pics of that when it's complete and more of the exterior, if anyone is interested. This is the only 'after' exterior shot I have at the moment.
BTW, I still need...
I had some film to use up so I thought I'd take some pics of some of my latest surplus equipment. (I know how everyone here likes looking at pictures). This is a neat little air compressor I picked up from GL. The engine did not run because it was not getting fuel. Come to find out, the fuel...
Thought I'd give the latest update on the cucv restoration for the people playing at home, and post some pics of the project so far.
The undercarriage is finished and I am currently getting the exterior ready for paint. That should be sprayed within the next week or so, then it's reassembly...
