Check out the fourth posting in the following thread. Kenny (recovery4x4) gives a pretty good dissertation on cleaning the hydraulic head.

I'm interested in acquiring a M816 wrecker. GL has a few listed at Ft Indiantown Gap/Anneville PA to be auctioned at the end of February. Is there anyone out there with some knowledge of 800 series trucks or M816s who would do a preview for me? Better yet, does anyone know a truck mechanic at Ft...

I have a NIB, NOS ether start kit on the shelf. The ether tubing is marked "Synflex Air Brake Hose 4246-022 SAE J844 Type A (Nylon 11) 1/8" OD". Make sure you use nylon or a similar organic solvent resistant material. Ether will eat through more common plastics like polyethylene or polypropylene.
Go to the Interstate Battery website and search for local dealers. Ask several dealers for a quote as they vary wildly, I was quoted prices ranging from $100 to $160. The Interstate part number most recently was U6TL, but I have seen others marked 6TL, 6TL MF and U6TL MF.
Most Deuces are equipped with either a flame heater or an ether system for cold weather starting. The flame heater burns a small amount of fuel in the intake manifold while cranking to raise the inlet air temperature and make the main fuel charge ignite more readily. The ether system sprays a...
All Deuces IIRC came with the mount on the passenger door. In addition to the mg ring mount, they were also used to mount convoy flags to identify various march units in the convoy.
I'm wondering what those of you with 5 ton tractors are paying for insurance - particularly those with commercial plates and insurance. Historical registration would be too restrictive for what I have in mind.
What GCVW to do register your trucks at and how much is your insurance?
One guy I...
I'll throw in my 2 cents here. I feel the question was a fair one. Sermis was asking a question about a 5 ton part. I assume Sermis has a Deuce and has downloaded all the Deuce manuals but has not downloaded the 5 ton manuals. Rather than spend a bunch of time hunting for and downloading...
Sorry Joel but that is incorrect. The -1C or -1D suffix following the LDT465 has NOTHING to do with the turbo. The -1C or -1D (or -2 in the case of Bjorns XM-757) refers to the engineering change level of the engine; i.e. the level of change/upgrades made to the engine when it was originally...
RE: Re: RE: larc-v for sale via auction
Gotta tell you, this and the M123 thread " I'm looking at getting the big bad 10ton. . ." are the funniest I've ever seen on this site! LMFAO!!!!
This tread is TOOOOO funny! Thanks whomever you are who started it, I've already forgotten your name! I think this is the first flame thread I've ever seen on SS. Mike, whomever you are and wherever you are, thanks for the hoot! LMFAO!
I have one of those bed cranes in the back of my Deuce. Used it to load up a couple of mounted 9:00-20s I picked up at the GLMVPA show at General Jim's this summer. When I got home I decided to just toss the tires off the tailgate, they are just going to flop over and fall down anyhow. Kicked...
