You are so right . i had 4 batteries blow up when i jumped a Truck about 20 yrs ago .One of the posts hit my hand . Never work with safety glasses at the least .I was very lucky

Go to the Southern States Store and ask for Corn Oil . It stays thick till it works for a while and turns to an oil so when cools it turns thick enough that it will not leak . Farmers use this in their combines

I would not worry abuot a daul voltage alt. The only thing you need to do is come off the + side of the battery that is grounded to the frame . Put a 60 amp breaker or fuse and run a#0 wire to a new fuse block (you can get this at NAPA or a speed shop and run all of your 12v...
If you want to lower your trailer and put electric brakes I would put a Dexter 10000 Axle under it . I do beleive you would be very happy with this setup
I did install a front 10000 lb . I did buy everything that I needed from a guy in NC . It was 1100.00 for everything .Frame ext. , Winch .Pto , Shifter , Linkage , Shifter locking Plate ,and Drive Shaft:jumpin:

Hello Everyone just here to say hello and say that Honor ,Duty And Country is as American as apple pie as Dad told me as I grew up. I have gotten my first MV it is a M109A3 with a winch that i did install myself .I will post a pic as soon as learn more about the way this great site works .:rolleyes:
You can use 12volt stuff ,But you have to run a single #0 wire from the battery (the one hooked to the ground ) to a new termial strip with a 60 amp fuse at the battery then run all your 12 volt stuff off the strip and fuse as you would normally . You can get at just about any speed shop
