I guess I would clean it up real good and try and determine where it is leaking (the best I could) . Then if the pump feels nice and smooth when you spin it, and has not slop or play, I would try the gasket. They are cheap (like 5 bucks surplus). Then if all goes well you wont have to do it all...
Iowa National Guard truck...COOL. The electric wipers are a very nice upgrade. The 2 trucks on the flatbed in my avatar are IANG trucks too. I had bought 3 from that auction . Still have the green one and had sold the 2 tan ones. They were all great trucks. Wouldn't surprise me if yours came...
Well you got a good piece of the trip behind ya. That is a lot of miles tho and I am sure you and the family are ready to get home. Might not always seem like it now, but when its all over in the future, there will be many fond memories of this trip.

What WM said. Also if there is a battery disconnect switch anywhere on the truck and someone shuts it off while the truck was running, that will kill the alt. I helped recover a 109 recently where that seemed to be the case with that one. Get ahold of this guy for a good deal on a take out alt...

I have been slow to warm up to this using house paint to paint a deuce idea, but you sure did a nice job. Looks and sounds like it must work. Would knock out that hazzardous shipping bill.
