What would it be clearing out? I let it run hoping the smoke would clear but it just went from white to black. I know where the setting was originally. When I turned it back up it would start smoking more.

If you disconnect the lines to the cylinder and turn the wheel do you get any air from either connection?
Can you turn the wheel or does it lock up....

At the time I worked for UPS. Millions of dollars and several years of work were invested to ensure that the Y2K issue didn't impact our systems. If no one had realized there was a problem...
