Have seen some complaints about increasing HMMWV parts prices. Just saw that Sportsmans Guide has increased price of early style drivers seat from about $11.00 to $79.95! Hopefully everything won"t go up 7 or 8 times!

You might try G838 for opinions. I have only seen one for sale in my area and it was "restored" and over 12,000 One sold on SS early this year for 10,900 with M416 trailer. It was uncut. Keep us informed. Good luck!

On the glovebox question: I have seen where someone mounted a military radio shell and hinged the front. Seems clever to me but more costly than ammo box. Also with old style driver seat you could hinge the front and install there after moving fire extinguisher.

Don't if same problem but H1 refused to start hot when parked pointing up grade. Tried cooling the pump but did not work as it had when parked level. Had it towed to dealer and it started ok there!

Good point. Started on the front with brake set and in neutral. Front spindles turned so made the fixture. As I said there would be other solutions. This were the first half shafts I have done. I am still learning. Have used the same tool when torqueing spindle nuts on M151A2 and was helpful.

My H1 is over 20 years old and only one boot has failed and that was when the dealer was working on the ac. The H1 has 16,000 miles on it and has always been garaged until this year. Hope I didn't just jinx my remaining boots!

If you are doing the half shafts by yourself(no soldier B) it is easier if you fabricate a a fixture/tool to keep the spindle from turning when you are torqueing the half shaft bolts. I used AL bar about 24" long and 1/2X2. Just drill 2 holes on one end spaced to go over the spindle bolts...

If you install plywood you can attach footman loops for cargo straps, jerry can holder, or ammo can holders. I used welnuts in bottom of plywood so no holes in truck bed.

I just replaced the plywood and repainted. Also, the radio rack is handy to attach cup holder ammo can etc. I Just tried not to make any permanent alterations to vehicle. These will be collectible, again some day.
