It could be military as I don't see any tags on it.

    HMMWV Sealant

Would welding the seam be a solution? I can see how it might be a problem if you wanted to remove a body panel. But, I bet 99 times of 100 you won't be removing those body panels. Best of all, I think a nice weld will actually be cleaner looking than the factory caulking. Just a thought...

NDT, how can I tell the first generation from the second generation bow setup? Thanks!

    FMTV cargo cover frame assemblies

Does anyone know if the FMTV cargo cover frame assemblies (the bows that hold up the cargo cover) are modular? I have an M1085 LWB cargo and I have been unable to find a complete cargo cover frame assembly. However, I've seen plenty of them for the M1078s and M1083s. Could I buy a couple of...

Aluminum vs Steel Hard Kit Top Pros and Cons

I really should have asked a question first: do you care about the top you put on being correct, or do you just want a slant back on it? If you just want the look, then I'd suggest the repro top. It will be cheaper and, being aluminum (not sure of the top, just what you said), it won't rust...

Aluminum vs Steel Hard Kit Top Pros and Cons

Well, I try to err on the side of "correct." People probably won't know, but I will. So, I always try to get the real stuff. Others will disagree. That is fine. I like my trucks to be original and correct, and VERY rarely do I violate that. It tends to cost me a bit more, though, and it is...

Hello from MiddleEarth with questions about my M1009

Welcome from Maryland, USA. Beautiful truck. I'd love to see some pictures of the 6.5 turbo set up.

Help! GL lost my EUC, closed my account and is trying to charge ME for it!

I can't help, but, yeah, that sounds about right for GL. They screw up and then blame you. I've been screwed by them a few times. Guys complain about GovPlanet; GL is far worse, at least based upon my dealings with each.

    M939 Wiper Hose Replacement Options

Is this really a problem that needs to be addressed regularly? I've had M939 series trucks since 2001 and put thousands of miles on them, and I don't recall EVER replacing the wiper hoses. Is this a common problem?

    Mack RD822sx

I think the write up said that one of the trucks was used, so you may have that one, which would make it even more rare (1 in 48!).

Aberdeen 2017 (44th East Coast Rally held at Ripken Stadium May 11-13

I've taken my son previously (approximately the same age at the time) and he had a good time. Admittedly, he was not up for hanging around for eight hours so that cut my day short, but it was fun being there with him. He got to drive in a friend's Mighty Mite and I bought him some stuff that...

potentially in need of help with an M1070 or comparable.

If it is just a big winch you are after, why not expand your search to guys with wreckers? The 45,000 pound drag winch on the back of the wreckers is made for this type of recovery. Of course, it helps to have two winches to "steer" the recovered vehicle, but there probably are more wrecker...

Need LMTV assistance in Fairbanks, Alaska

Is getting it trucked home a possibility? I know it will be costly, but these are repairs that will be much easier in your driveway (or with a local mechanic). Again, I know it will cost serious money and the OP also loses out on an adventure (I saw that he had been planning a trip to AK...

Need LMTV assistance in Fairbanks, Alaska

Without MODE selected and under normal circumstances, gears 2-7 are available. You need to actually put it in 1st to get it to go there. I am not sure of the exact speed, but I'd say 5th gear tops out around 45 mph...give or take. These trucks have plenty of power, but you are in 7th gear...

Need LMTV assistance in Fairbanks, Alaska

I honestly doubt it is a misprint. Go back and take a look at the listing again. Where they rate certain aspects of the truck, there is one red star next to "Drivetrain Controls," followed by "The mode button must be continuously depressed for the drivetrain to operate in forward only." It...

    M51, should I buy?

Unless the truck is very clean (i.e., uncommonly clean) and the price can't be beat, I'd suggest finding a tractor. You will have less work to get it where you want to. Plus, the dump trucks have good value in original condition. Good luck whichever way you go!

    Just dont see that anymore

http://www.steelsoldiers.com/showthread.php?40845-white-star-after-WWII/page3 I am fairly certain that the US military went away from applying the white stars when the MERDC 4 color camo pattern came into use and continued with the current 3 color camo pattern. As this thread mentions, David...
