Insuring a CUCV (protecting an Investment)

What you can do is take it and get a certified"appraisal" which is what you need to do with antique vehicles that are restored. My CUCV(s) are insured as regular work trucks. They are functional working rigs for me. Liability only.

    Replacing M1008 exhaust system

Put a dual exhaust system from a M1010 on my K30 gas dually, fit exactly. the fact that they were both 4wd is why they were the same.

    Replacing M1008 exhaust system

I've redone two of these dual exhaust systems, one 6.2L one a gas 350, both the same stock exhaust. Napa has the pipes and mufflers but it isn't cheap even with a discount.

    M1009 Throttle Cable

Its all part of the throttle cable, don't believe its sold seperately. Last time I needed one it took a trip to the local salvage yard. Maybe someone here has one for sale. Good Luck.

    M1028 will not start

Do you have a voltmeter? Go through the TMs, there are wiring diagrams for EVERYTHING, check for voltage where its supposed to be, I've had about 20 of these (only 2 of them were bought running) and only 1 of them I couldn't get to start (had an ip from a HMMV, was never going to start cause its...

Ex St Clair Fire Truck M1008 from GSA. NO RUST. Some turkey who inspected this truck during bidding decided to remove ALL the fuses and disconnect the starter feed wire from the power block and tuck it nicely underneath. Thus it mysteriously wouldn't run when I picked it up. Luckily I've been...

    sm465 into a m1008 for towing

I have a 86 ex military firetruck converted to a dump with a stick and the 6.2 and 4:56s. It is great to drive around empty and will take a load (had 3 tons in it) but it is SLOW loaded down, so I wouldn't tow with it. Just my 2 cents.

Where to find a cheap CUCV for parts?

State auctions also, got a couple for the minimum bid ($50.00 plus fees a whopping total of $225.00) a few years ago, off site, one actually ran, you have to keep your eyes open but then everyone else has their eyes open too.

    another M1028a2

Sold the 54 mile dually to a young guy not too far away. The guy was real excited to get it, has a rusted out M1008 for parts and is talking Cummins transplant . . . It was nice to have 3 M1028A2s for a while but you can't keep everything . . . Putting most of it back together kept me out of...
