m1009 transfer case rear seal replacement

I've had issues with that seal leaking, had it replaced several times over the years. Might have something to do with my 4" lift and original length driveshaft. Recently had the transfer case re-sealed as it was leaking at the split-case. They showed me the bushing that sits behind the seal...

    M1009 as a daily driver

Dont know where it came from, got it from a guy I knew. Still have some in the garage. It might be boat carpeting or something like that. Its black, comes in a roll, its neoprene, the upper side is a short tight carpet, the bottom is smooth with an adhesive and a removable film. Peel and stick...

    Sourcing Injectors

Never looked at the classifieds. Checked out Ranchhoppers injectors but they are part #6703802 which shows its for 6.5. The correct injector for a long body fine thread 6.2 is #6704001. Whats the procedure regarding the getting the fuel lines out of the way, when swapping out a set of injectors?

    Sourcing Injectors

Thanks for the offer, mate. Very much appreciated. I'm leaning towards the brand new OEM Delphis or the remanufactured Mylex's with Italian injectors, neither of which has a core charge. Going to shoot Mylex an e-mail inquiring about what make those Italian injectors are and if they're pop...

    Sourcing Injectors

Been noticing a drop in mileage lately. Starts, idles and runs great. M1009 has 154,000 miles that I know of. Don't know the history of motor. Got it with 67,000 miles, whether its original IP and injectors or if odometer has gone over once is unknown. Considering getting a set of injectors to...

    glow plugs

20 seconds is plenty for the AC60's. That gives their maximum temperature of 1850 degrees. A second glow is not required, unless you are after glowing after the motor has started. Even then, you should only require 1 or 2 10 second glows depending on temperature with time in between periods...

    Gen 2 Very dim. Relay?

I also have a very dim pulsating Gen2 light for the past 2-3 years, usually only visible at night. As well my headlights flicker ever so slightly. New, good batteries, belts tight, good mid green reading on volt meter. Passenger alt was rebuilt back in 2005. I understood this issue required a...

Flexible fuel line sizes and part numbers info

If you haven't already purchased a lift pump. Get a AC Delco, Carter are a piece of #*@&#. Had one develop a leak after only 13 months.

Drip drip of diesel from bell housing, IP?

I also had a bad fuel line that dripped out the bell housing hole. Intake valley was dry around IP. Rubber fuel line from lift pump to filter was wet on passenger side valve cover where it attaches to hard line. Small cracks had developed there.

GL Engines- Sometimes you win and sometimes you loose

At least you guys have access to motors. I would love to buy a good tight 6.2 if anyone ever has one up for sale. Mine runs good, but has used oil since i got it and has a fair bit of blow by. There's nothing up here. All the junkyards sell theirs to the city works departments. My only option...

I need help with a few things...

There is no known issue with the starter, its a heavy duty, well engineered component. If your starter is not spinning over fast, its worn out and needs a rebuild, new bushings and brushes. Changing the system to 12V is usually not looked at as beneficial.

    interesting starter problem

Once when working on my M1009, I had been leaning over the batteries all day withought disconnecting them. Unbeknownst to me I had put enough pressure on the terminal area that the clamp must have shifted slightly on an angle. This was not visible to the eye. Went to start it, sparks shot off...

    Direct vs. Gear Reduction Starter

Heres an install tip for the 27MT, obviously if you have the support braces the passenger side must be removed. Take a 8-12" 2 by 4, when you lift the starter up but still below the mounting height, you slip the 2 by 4 underneath and it rests on the leaf spring. The starter is now supported...

Starter bracket by Gm Discontinued once stock depleted

Part number for AC Delco starter bolts ; 15544950. I see them listed for 20 plus dollars, search around, couple of months ago I bought 4 off Amazon for $1.24 ea.

    Direct vs. Gear Reduction Starter

This from another member ; starting ability of the 27mt verses the 28mt starter. Given good CCA batteries and cabling, the 27mt starter WILL turn over the engine MUCH faster than the 28MT will. The advantage to the 28MT will be that it will require LESS amperage to crank over the engine at a...

    Epic 27MT Rebuild quest.

Finally got around to doing the rebuild. Even though I communicated with the tech at ASP several times regarding the correct numbers for the bushings, they sent me the wrong DE bushing. #62-1406 is incorrect (.6260 in. OD), it should be #62-1500 (.5638 in. OD). Luckily, I did the work at a...

lots of smoke out driver side exhaust on startup

I've used AC60's with great success for 8 years, on my second set. With the AC60's you can burn them for a full 20 seconds, withought the 5 second delay. Thats when they reach their maximum temperature of 1851 degrees centigrade. Though I find 17 seconds is enough on the coldest days. I do use a...

    Heater box

When I got my M1009 from the Yakima training center in Washington, the presence of a few mouse turds below the heater duct led me to remove the entire assembly for inspection. There was an enourmous amount of droppings, the nest was built right where the blend door was and a mouse had been...

    mystery oil Leak on M1009

Watched your vid. It looks like your front axle pumpkin was hitting that big rock, maybe even the rear.
