    Deuce Front End Alignment????

I used a tape measure (with the wife to hold the little end), a 15/16" socket and ratchet, a 6" crescent wrench, and a 12" pipe wrench to adjust mine. Didn't jack it up, just made the adjustment on level ground. Got her dialed into 1/8" toe in and it only took me 3 tries! WOO HOO! :driver:

I'd love to but my current financial situation prohibits. Take lotsa pics and post em so I can see what I missed.

What did you do to your deuce this week?

I finally got a bulb in my right front turn signal. Thanks to SMOKEWAGON66 for bringing me a replacement signal bulb and a couple spare B.O. marker/parking light bulbs. 24-volt bulbs are about as rare as hen's teeth around here. When I walked into NAPA and asked if they had any 24-volt light...

m1009 "clanking" noise when put in reverse...

I agree with the general consensus. Throw a set of U-joints in it, but do yourself a favor and get the slightly more expensive ones with the zerks so you can grease them periodically. Don't believe the parts counter zit-farmer at NAPA when he tells you they're pre-greased. Only the...

winch purchase- what to look for

If it's in good condition and there's no underlying damage, $750 is a pretty good price as I've seen complete winch kits for $3000.

    Oily vent pipe

Thanks Tony. I knew I was forgetting something! [thumbzup] :driver:

    Oily vent pipe

I'm fairly new to deuce ownership, but common sense and what I've learned so far tells me that sounds like 6 gallons of oil in the engine instead of 5, and/or excessive crankcase pressure. If the correct amount of oil went in the engine and the dipstick reads overfull, that points to a leaking...

    Kudzu "kudzuol" and a multifuel?

Don't be too quick to dismiss that wonderful ethanol. You can use it to cut and thin your WMO before you pump it through the filtration so that it passes the filter easier with less pressure. Blended with WMO you've got what I like to refer to as "Purina Deuce Chow".

    Jerry can project

I didn't say hydrochloric, I said muriatic acid. An old neighbor of mine used to do auto paintwork and whenever he took a car down to bare steel to repaint, he'd spray each panel down with muriatic acid to etch the steel, kill any potential rust and then neutralize the acid with white vinegar...

    Captured nuts on the firewall.

I took a peek at the TM "GTA-9-1-1851-8.pdf " and it shows a voltage regulator mounted to the firewall on a set of captured nuts between the center and where the wiring harness comes through the firewall on the left side. According to what I know, my 72 KJ M35A2 has a generator with the...

    Jerry can project

That's all ya gotta do. You can find muriatic acid any place that has pool supplies. Pour in a quart or so, MAKE SURE THE RUBBER SEAL ON THE CAP IS IN GOOD CONDITION AND SEALS THE VENT HOLE! If there's no seal, bad things can happen. (sorry about the caps, but I can't stress this one enough) And...

    Jerry can project

That's great that there's no rust in it. You can't hardly find em anymore with no rust at all! POR 15 has a website you can order from, but I'd definately acid etch the inside to give it some "tooth" for the coating to stick without peeling later.

Can you convert the M-80 mic to work with a CB?

All you have to do is open the mic, look at where the wires are on the slider switch and copy the pattern to the new mic. Another thing you'll want to check is that the impedance rating is the same on the mic coil. The coil should have the rating printed on the magnet side. If it's not the same...

    Jerry can project

Since you got such a good deal on the can, it would be worth it to get some muriatic acid, etch the inside and kill any rust, then neutralize the acid effect with a rinse of white vinegar, then coat the inside with some POR 15 tank coat. It'll last forever!

    An American Deuce in Canada

I dunno why, but reading your post I was suddenly reminded of a youtube video of a couple Canadian guys on a late night mission to look at a truck the guy said was a deuce but the truck they were looking at was a 5-ton. (the 10-lug wheels was the giveaway) It was a pretty funny video and just...

    Deuce won't start

Make sure the slow-burn fuse above the lift pump didn't do a slow burn! Once you make sure the lift pump runs, make sure it's not sucking air through a bad hose inside the tank. My deuce was a little hard starting untill I re-connected the lift pump. Why it was disconnected in the first place, I...

    Back from the "dead"

Congrats on making it back in one piece! Thankyou for your service! I think I can speak for the entire SS family when I say we appreciate what you did so that that we can do what we do! On your upcoming MV purchase, I highly recommend the good old M35A2. The pros way outnumber the cons on...

    Front axle lock engagement

From what my ears tell me, when the front axle is engaged, the air pressure is actuating against a spring. When the pressure is released, the spring returns the actuator to disengaged and the pressure releases through a vent at the selector. If you don't have the air pressure, you don't have the...
