    LMTV at DRMO, spec's? Engine?

Seafire, Your SS mechanic should have no problem sourcing parts for these trucks. He should even already know where to go for everything. I'd actually would like to talk to him. My conversations and emails with present and past BAE employees has enlighted me to a lot of the FMTV history and...

    LMTV at DRMO, spec's? Engine?

THIS is a misleading quote. There is no timeframe or WHICH LMTVs or MTVs he is referring to. New?? are we saying 2001,2008 or 2012? P1 or P2? ( new term to me, but saw a reference to P2 for the Oshkosh). The engine and trans are completely different. If a P2, Oshkosh could be going through the...

    LMTV at DRMO, spec's? Engine?

I can't say anything on the Deuce ( and won't because I don't want to make any "mis-quotes":p)....but from the TM, the LMTV standard cab weighs approx 1400 lbs and a 1081 (AO) cab weighs approx 1700 lbs ( fully fitted for takeoff). Tires weigh in at 340lbs each. Someone else can give a number...

    LMTV at DRMO, spec's? Engine?

I remember in the '70s the same thing with EFI. Now the reverse is true, how many know carbs?:-D

    LMTV at DRMO, spec's? Engine?

I hate the web:mad:.. so much mis information and people repeating it! My 1996 M1094 has a mechanical engine and IS NOT computer controled. It does have a TPS for the Allison World Trans, which is computer controled... I don't care to think how many times someone repeated something on the FMTVs...

Just bought a MTV M1094 LVAD

Multi tasking is taking its toll, and pictorial updates has been the casualty. The biggest visual change has been the addition of mirrors and antennas. The mirrors are no way standard, but fit with all the requirement I had set down (and a variant of ones used some MRAPs). They needed to work...

Just bought a MTV M1094 LVAD

Another weekend, and another facet attacked. I’m at a point that I am “taking liberties” with the build. The permanent bow framework and tonneau cover was started. Since the waistline of the truck in over 7’ from the ground and figuring I would be putting the cover and bows up by myself most the...

Aaaah, just go " borrow" a couple of batteries from your neighbors' cars:roll:... the only reason you need the 6TL is because the cover won't close on anything else.... except a group 24, and then you need to get fancy with wiring because of the post locations... if the engine is going to start...

Oh brother, the TMs you got aren't going to help on the relays, but in TM 9-2320-365-20-3, Table 7-1 , the Relays are listed (K#, voltage, throw (ex spst, or spdt) and function ) and the CBs. I went through and painted the 12v relays with a white dot and 24v with a red. same with the sockets...

You only need 2 batteries to start it. Just insulate the unused terminals.Just be sure to use all 3 taps for 12v and 24v... I've been using 2 mismatched batteries since last July. Once the truck is ready, I'll buy 4 new batteries.

Its not like you're using it every day. Besides, the main function of the pump is to compress the suspension for air transport (which the engine was to be running, according to the TM). The cab tilt and spare tire carrier was a bonus. The Steyr 12M18 ( from where the FMTVs came from) used a...

    .

It's an air driven pump that operates the hydraulics, and they are slow. You need to remember the tires on the FMTVs are 340 lbs. The standard cab around 1400 lbs. The unit also does the suspension compression for air transport

Just bought a MTV M1094 LVAD

A quick post of some progress pics. Reworked the right rear corner of the bed and tailgate... I doubt it worked as well when it left Sealy:mrgreen:... The top pins have no fiction putting them in or out. I found no reason not to install the fenders, and swapped out the only mismatched tire.

Just bought a MTV M1094 LVAD

Progress is moving faster than my posting pics of updates. The troop seat section was move to the rear of the bed to see how the HMMVW seats would fit in and measure for gerry can racks for the War Pig ( they were fab'ed this week and trial fitted ). The rear troop seats and racks can be...

    2009 Lmtv M1078A1 Charging System

Unless there is an updated dash I'm unaware of (and that is easily possible:grin:) , there is no idiot light for the alternator in the display, just the volt gauge to the right of the display

Just bought a MTV M1094 LVAD

I was worried I was going to kill myself humping them up and over the side of the bed.... those mothers are HEAVY! plus the sections fly every whichway... I'm making a cleat to hold the seat sections together next time... or get some help :)

Just bought a MTV M1094 LVAD

To continue my saga, "AS the FMTV Turns".;-) Last night the FMTV gods were both smiling and screwing with me (as usual). Last month I scored a new M1083 troop seat kit off GL. And 2 weeks ago found 4 adapters for the kit for the M1090/M1094 ( need 2 more, but I can make them). I took 2 sections...

Just bought a MTV M1094 LVAD

She'll spend most her time on display at Tankland in South El Monte, where it is now, venturing out only for parades and events. This thread started as an introduction of the truck and became an ongoing build thread, mostly because of the support I have been getting from people here and through...

Just bought a MTV M1094 LVAD

Last week saw the removal of the braces and the 'spring back'. The right side only required the reshaping of the top hinge and door adjusted to latch. The left side was a bit more involved as the quarter panel needed to be shifted. This meant the left rear corner had to held securely while...
