There are no air lines in the bumper, they're behind it. I'll be removing mine to either straighten it, or replace it. I recommend you keep my photobucket handy, you'll probably be able to find a pic of anything in those folders, I was taking pics for later review and reference.

    Company making commercial LMTV Truck

Trans issues are my single greatest fear on these trucks. Mine passed the basic "moving" test:grin:, so I haven't gone any further on learning about them yet. But looking at the TMs, you should have a main code and a sub code, and they differ between the WTECII and WTECIII. For the vents, I'd...

Number of FMTVs in private hands?

The last few months I've kept an ear to the ground just to see what is coming out, and for how much and condition. I'm just curious to who'll own up to having one.:-P With all the bad raps people are giving them. I'm seeing components coming up on GL, and don't hear anything more of them. Are...

I vaguely remember a MTV on GL. Thought it was a LWB, but don't remember a crane :-?.. but now I have tunnel vision... looking for an elusive LVAD cab to mod and replace mine.:)

Number of FMTVs in private hands?

The question has been asked and I wondered, how many FMTVs are there out in private ownership? I realize it'll a small group, but interesting to see what has come into private ownership. Post up your model and a pic.:) My 'work in progress': MTV M1094 LVAD

What model 5 ton is this? Oshkosh?

MO MV Man, I have thought to start a thread on the FMTVs privately owned. I don't know of many, and they are usually through this site. Except for my MTV M1094 LVAD, all the rest have been LMTVs. Definately a small group

What model 5 ton is this? Oshkosh?

A Bedford ? We need a smiley with the shivers ;-) SS made them under licence from Steyr. I had been looking for a Steyr 12M18, as used by many Euro militarys... the prices in Europe has been well over $20k for a US importable one, plus shipping, etc... A must simplier design... manual tran/2...

What model 5 ton is this? Oshkosh?

The Steyr and the '90's era FMTV have a grille with large cutouts in them. I like this 'racy' grille :). I won't comment on the bad rep of the FMTV until I have a lot more info... What I do know are Forward Control vehicles require a completely different mindset and techique to driving them...

    Company making commercial LMTV Truck

I haven’t really dived into the body part issue seriously yet. I have an ad listed here for a LVAD cab wanted, hoping that someone has one in a back lot, and would be thrilled to be rid of. I have some really neat ideas for mods to it that even the most “die hard purist” wouldn’t...

    Company making commercial LMTV Truck

Fortunately, my truck mechanically is much better off than I could have hope for. But when I started to troubleshoot items, I would do a google search of the pn and usually came up with a listing of the nsn and what manufacturer was using what pn. Many of the pn's are the original supplying...

    Company making commercial LMTV Truck

JPIST, With the TMs, I'm having decent luck finding mechanical parts commercially. That was one of the claims about the FMTVs, that a high percentage of the parts are 'off the shelf'. I just don't understand why air drop cabs aren't common in the private sector...

    Company making commercial LMTV Truck

I had seen links to the Bronto site before, and everything on the exterior is the same, but the engine and trans are different than the FMTV (Cummin vs Cat and Allision 3700SP vs 3070PT). I wonder if the site isn't (or was) a leader for a investor start up body building company, as the contact...

Replace windsield glass on M54A2 & XM211 Tips please

Bruce, Technique varies for each person, but you have it generally right. I like to brush the oil on the side of the tape against the glass and then use masking tape across as you said, then apply oil on the outer edge. It can be a little messy. Unfortunately, I haven’t done the glass on a...

Replace windsield glass on M54A2 & XM211 Tips please

Use the original cork/rubber tape, there are 5 thicknesses to choose from. You want to use one that wraps around glass and lets it slip into the frame, but not too snuggly. The trick is to oil the tape on both sides and use masking tape to hold it on the glass and use side cutters to cut the...

Just bought a MTV M1094 LVAD

Hey Jim, thanks for the help, some things need 2 people to do the testing. The air problem would be simple to anyone that had more than a hour experience with air brakes.... I'm at 45 minutes now:lol: .... I am surprised that the truck moved the 5 feet last week. The folllowing are the...

Just bought a MTV M1094 LVAD

A little more progress tonight. Started to troubleshoot the air brakes and cleaned the bed of the spares and operated the dump. The tailgate linkage is broken on the right side, as the side rail is bent in also... again, no big deal, and easily fixable.... THIS THING IS COOL!8-)
