Just bought a MTV M1094 LVAD

There is light at the end of the tunnel! And hopefully, it isn’t a train coming at me.:-D Since the truck is 20 minutes away, I plan all my all moves and actions in advance. This last Saturday, a first on this project happened, I have never given a thought to when I was going to remove the...

Just bought a MTV M1094 LVAD

Well, I finally made the first attempt at reshaping the tub. Because the cab tilts and floats on an air spring, I decided to make a platform inside the tub that straddles the engine hump and placed a pair of heavy tubes across it extending outside the cab. In the first step, I cut 2”x 1 ½ ”...

    Electrical troubles in my M1094

To follow up on my original post What I thought was going to be a major electrical troubleshooting nightmare ended up being the main lighting switch… all the exterior lights came to life as they should. Because of the symptoms early on,the switch was first on the hit list… the only residual...

    Electrical troubles in my M1094

I have come to the point to straighten out the lighting circuits on my M1094. And because of the FMTV’s unique electrics, someone that has worked on them may know where my problems are. First, a little history on the truck as I understand it: Sometime after Sept 2009 ( truck repainted)and...

Just bought a MTV M1094 LVAD

Brian, if I hadn’t gone over the hill to the high desert to pick up some parts for the truck, I would have been there to show you the truck. It has come a long way from the first days, it was a bit overwhelming to look at then. Besides working to straighten the cab, I’ve started to go through...

Just bought a MTV M1094 LVAD

A distant great uncle to the FMTV This last Sunday, I finally took a distant relative to the FMTV ( from the old country:-D) down to the museum, SDP Haflinger, to get some comparative pics.

Just bought a MTV M1094 LVAD

Well, I intended to post these a few days ago, but never got to it. I've been working to straighten the right side rail of the bed, and replaced the front bumper last week and installed a newer style steel grille.

    Fmtv battery box

Ok... we're cutting the search parameter down. Is it an FMTV or are you making a "look-alike"? Stewart-Stevenson (BAE) or Oshkosh? They appear to be made differently. The manual for the BAE has a BAE part number and not an OEM # like they are on sourced out parts. The pic is of the one on my SS...

    Recent LMTV out of Hooks

Only ones used by Oshkosh that would be an exact crossover. And I wonder how the licensing with Steyr is handled, since the SS FMTV is a decendent of the Steyr 12M18

    Recent LMTV out of Hooks

But the truck in question was made by S&S (BAE), so you need to go to them for parts. BAE still has a service and parts department for them.

    Recent LMTV out of Hooks

Hardy. BAE hae been extremely helpful with my truck. I've gotten many parts that I thought might be unobtainium... and there are a few common parts that are unobtainium . But , BAE also was quite surprise to find such a rare version had been released. It's all on how you present yourself and be...

Just bought a MTV M1094 LVAD

The truck came from Bragg. I'm pretty sure it didn't go all the way over, but have wondered how the top of the cab ended up looking like it was run overed ( considering they're stowed in the bed for the drop) If you have looked through those pics, you can understand how finding another AO cab...

Just bought a MTV M1094 LVAD

I wish I knew more. Most is guesswork. The damage to the fuel tank and guards puzzled me until we figured out it was probably done by a forklift after-the-fact. Physical damage on the left side seems to have been the front and intermediate tire had blown and shreaded, the rear radius arm with a...

Just bought a MTV M1094 LVAD

The timeframe seems correct. I bought the truck back in April and the seller had it for around a year, and the Tan respray was Sept '09 (according to a stamp on the door). But, I have never gotten any info on this malfunction, or when. Interestingly, I have heard from a few people that...

    My dad's new FMTV...

I remember seeing 58mph in a manual, but that could be conservative or rated rpm. I have a F700 that has a rated speed of 74mph, but the engine will easily rev another 300+ rpm to lift the top speed to 79mph... so results may vary :)

    My dad's new FMTV...

Empty weight of a LMTV (M1078 ) is 17k lbs, My M1094 (MTV) is 24k empty. iirc, a M1083 is around 22k lbs. The last M1078 out of GL was over $34k. I agree the electrical is overly complicated. The trucks are dual voltage (12 and 24) .There are no safeguards to keep an idiot from putting the...

Just bought a MTV M1094 LVAD

Christmas in October!:jumpin: It has been a while since my last post, and there has been progress. I even started on doing bodywork :). To touch the high points. It has been running and moving between the display area of the museum and into the shop. The day after my last post, The Flying Dump...

    Company making commercial LMTV Truck

If any one reads the previous posts, JPINST has a M1078 and looking for another source for parts, and not to buy a truck, and the only electronic in the FMTV is the 3070 trans. the engine is mechanical with a TPS for the trans.... do not confuse it with the civilian version's drivetrain
