I purchased this truck a few weeks ago in upstate NY in a private sale.
I beleive it is an M1009 by the data plate info, but it may be a Mdl cd-10516. The driver side door may not be original. I have seen The Mdl cd-10516 trucks with chrome trim parts like the grill and mirrors.

Why go through all that? An Allison AT545 has the same 4th gear ratio as the TH400 has in drive. It also has a lower 1st gear ratio. It uses an SAE#3 bell housing and is bulletproof. They were used in soda trucks, buses and small, six wheel C60 type dump trucks.
You can also purchase the very same relay at www.cucvelectric.com for $7.97. Why? I have no idea. In their defence, they do however ask that you read their starter run-on failure article. They also offer the doghead style relay for $9.97. There is no mention of it's amp rating though.
For light to light rush hour drag races, 3rd gear lockup is the way I would go. No need to get it shifting in and out of 4th gear. The 700R4 should never be run in unlocked 4th gear. When im putting around town, I leave it in 3rd gear, locked up. On the highway, I let it go to 4th, locked up.
Hea guys. The engine is original to the truck, a 1986 M1031. The PO did the 700R4 conversion. I have no idea how he sourced the TV bracket, but I do know it is the standard bracket for the 6.2-700R4.
Any Home Depot, Lowes, tractor supply or hardware store should carry it. It's the yellow bottle. It is far hotter than propane and great for stubborn rusty bolts and nuts. Not good for sweating pipe, too hot.
I use a burnzamatic torch with MAP gas on rusted bolt and nuts. Propane will not get it hot enough. Spray the mixture mentioned above on it after heating, it will suck the oil into the threads. Try to spin it off while it's still hot, it will come off easier that way.
My girlfriends nephew is autistic, and is enamored with my 1031. He too lines up all his stuff symmetrically. He didn't speak a word untill he was about 6 yrs old, now at 10 ya can't shut him up, LOL. I have gotten really close to him, a great kid. Hope all turns out well with that once in a...
The dog IS human after all. Quick thinking after a momentary lapse saved the truck. Everyone makes mistakes when in a rush, it takes guts to man up and admit it in a forum full of critics. :)
Thanks Chris, I have an M1031. All 1031s have the NP205 TC. They use gear oil as they have all gears and no chain. The conversion was done by the PO. The original 32 spline 205 was replaced with a 27 spline 205 from a 79 truck that had a TH350. I suspected the transfer case as the problem...
Hea True Knight, I was just cruzin along, doing a little over 60 and all of a sudden I smelled gear oil. I thought a trucker blew an axle seal on front of me. I keep cruzin. Now I hear what sounds like metal going through a pipe, and figure, oh good! The turbo is going out the exhast! Now the...
Well, back on 10/11 I posted that my transfer case blew up. After further investigation, it turns out it was the transmission. Disgusted with the whole turn of events, I just parked it untill I looked at it today. When I checked the oil level in the transfer case, it was way over full and was...
Here it is installed horizontally under my flatbed. You can put it pretty much anywhere you want as it has it's own fan. Derale13900 16 pass electra-cool, $186.90. Derale 13091 trans filter kit with guage, $88.06. They both will help keep your 700 alive.
I respect your opinion and experience, but I would not encourage the use of ether to a newbe or anyone new to diesel engines. I have been operating and repairing heavy equipment for thirty years now, and have reluctantly used starting fluid as a last resort to get a key piece of equipment...
