Yet another innocent question followed by pages in inane but colorful bull****. Hope every one used proper spelling and punctuation! Suprisingly, you didn't come under the scrutiny of the TM posse, followed by the usual suspects sucking up/brown nosing to said posse. That being said, the bolt...
As said above, That truck should run at highway speeds with 3.08s. I'd check to see if it indeed has 3.08 gears. I don't really know too much about 1009s, didn't some have 4.10 gear ratios? That could explain the high RPMs at highway speeds. I would strongly discourage putting a 700 in a truck...
The only negitive with the 700 in a truck that has 4.56 gears is that first gear us almost useless unless your pulling a heavy load. I actually had to learn how to drive my truck with a 700R4&Banks turbo becuase the turbo spins up fast when going from 1st to 2nd due to the lo 1st trans/4.56 rear...
I use that Awesome degreaser my girlfriend gets at the dollar store and mix it 50/50 with Dawn dish detergent. I take the truck for a run to get it hot, lightly fog the engine with water and apply this mixture, wait 15min and lightly hose off. I stay away from the alternators with any direct...
Allways keep a set of belts with you along with duct tape, zip tie assortment, gator clip jumper wire, stuff you can make roadside repairs with so you can limp it home.
Roger that, mine rubbed through and caused that "ticking" and needle jumping. I use my tom tom for speed and time as I have 285s and OD trans. My speedo was off by 30 mph. I wonder how accurate that GPS really is.
If repair is the only option untill you find another bracket, weld gussets- triangles on both outer sides of the top tab. This way there is enough clearence to get a socket on the stud. As far as the slide adjuster goes, if it is split or broken beyond repair, cut it off the bracket and use it...
If it's the top bolt tab, you can weld it from both sides, I did and it lasted for a while. Then the slide adjuster under the alt snapped and I found a junkyard bracket off an 82 C code motor. Check out local yards, should be no problem finding one.
Thanks chevyCUCV, I allways intended to get a spare engine but money has been so tight with construction at a standstill here. Been thinking a rebuilt 6.5 turbo long block motor for the future. I never thought i'd stumble across a cheap rebuild though. So it's not a J code, but it's complete...
Took a ride up to my hometown, Brewster NY to pick up a power steering pump bracket. A lifelong friend and schoolmate of mine has an old school junkyard there. I don't think they throw anything away. I went to retreve the bracket and inquired about the history of the engine I was taking it from...
I hauled two loads of 3/4 stone to my friends house, 20 mi round trip. Six yards total with a two axle hydraulic dump landscapers trailer. I was worried about the 700R4. Checked the trans temprature with an infrared thermometer, 127 deg. I was happy with that.
Has anyone tried using some kind of vibrating device on their wmo collection tank? Somthing like the vibrator used on salt spreaders to shake the materal down or a higher frequency type used to vibrate concrete. Im sure it would speed up the settling process. I've heard waste oil of any kind...
Thats great news, It's nice to be able to drive your truck with no fear of something blowing up or leaving you out in the middle of nowhere. Keep going! Now you can start adding the little stuff that will give it your signature.
Ever since I built El'Smasho, other drivers pretty much give me a wide berth, a lot less cutoffs also. My straight pipe stack helps, You hear this truck before you see it. From the rear, my Federal and New York State terrorist hunting permit stickers discorage tailgaters. Guess they think im an...
Hope a free catscan was included for that kind of money! Was this guy unaware of how to bid? Almost sounds like he was bidding against himself. If thats the case, I feel sorry for him. If not I hope his PUP tent is warm and dry tonite.
That lot was literally minuets from closing when I saw the $7500 bid and thought it was over, WOW! What could the winning bidder do with that truck now, fix it?
