    Should i buy this deuce?

I would buy the truck for $1500. It would be a good parts truck! once it is picked clean, scrap the bones. You will double your money and have plenty of cheap parts for your other truck. Let's face it, you can never buy just one of these trucks and a parts truck is always welcome. Good luck and...

    Chinese 6x6 Truck

It looks like a cross of early Datsun and Hummer.

Keep the classifieds separate. The forums are for people who are asking for help with a issue. The issue maybe troubleshooting a problem or help locating a hard to find part. Yes, there is some overlap but for the most part they are different. I don't want to be buried in Classifieds when I am...

rear shocks on a 5 ton

I measured my rear suspension it is 4 1/2" - 5" inches to the bumper stops. So that gives me about 10" of travel. I will order shocks that have 12" to give room for droop when one axle is hanging. If you are worried about over extension you can put on limiting straps, that is what most off-roads...

rear shocks on a 5 ton

Nice pictures Cranetruck! I would not have thought of mounting the shocks that way, but it makes sense. That is the direction that the axle pivots. You would need to leave room so the shock doesn't bind against other parts while giving proper dampening.

rear shocks on a 5 ton

Yes, I am singling out my tires, not bobbing the truck! I will probable use stock upper front shock mounts and fabricate lower mounts. I need to see how it lays out. I was looking at shocks today. King shocks and Road King shocks look the best. They are make shocks for heavy trucks like ours...

rear shocks on a 5 ton

One would think so, but my boss has a R-model make with 44 rears and the springs are bigger than a 5 ton. His truck is having issues with the ass end being bumpy. We first replaced the tires and then found out the rear shocks were cooked. If you still don't believe me look at the your front end...

rear shocks on a 5 ton

I work at a trucking company and Civilian semi trucks use shocks in the rear. Even the old Macks have rear shocks. I am singling out my M813 so there will be plenty of room on the outside of the frame off 4 shocks. I think they will help with the ride when empty. I hit some big highway seams on...

    Parts wanted?????????/

This is another sad case of so called Steel Soldier turning on their brother. Yes, Big Block 88 could have posted his grievance differently but, read between the lines! I believe that Big Block 88 was just venting to what he thought were his Brothers. We are all feeling the pinch and everywhere...

mounting 1600R20 tires on two piece rims

I don't understand! who needs to grind down their valve stem? I am mounting combat wheels on a 5 ton. The valve stem should clear fine. Do you have a picture and more info. for clarification? Only thing I am worried about is the 1600's rubbing on tight corners.

mounting 1600R20 tires on two piece rims

I have started this thread to show how I mounted my Super Singles. I have included some tips that I think will help others mount their tires. I haven't numbered the pictures but put them in order and included as many as I could. I bought 8 two piece 5 ton rims and 8 1600R20 new Michelin...

    Impact wrench question

I have a 5 ton M813 and don't find a impact driver very helpful. I use a 3/4 drive ratchet with a long handle to get things started. I use a gear reduction lug wrench to break lug nuts. I work for a heavy truck repair shop and we use it all the time. I haven't found a lug nut, it can't remove...

    Roboimpact question

I use a gear reduction lug wrench to break lug nuts. I work for a heavy truck repair shop and we use it all the time. I haven't found a lug nut, it can't remove yet! One thing to remember though, make sure your going the right direction. It will break off a wheel stud! always wire brush all...

    Minn to Mass

What is it condition? Do you own it already or are you picking up from a GL. If you know it running well, Drive it! I drove mine in the middle of the Big October snow storm that hit New England. I drove from Boston to Brackney PA and back in one day. My M813 loved it and it was awesome flying...

    Distance between frame rails?

Planning on putting a Eaton Roadranger in my M813. Should be plenty of room with the 5 ton. Be careful not to cut the frame. If you do, you need to reinforce it around the cut!
