I decided to get some tires from Kublos Surplus and I decided that my M813 needed a good ride. As the weekend of the trip came. The weather said it would snow. Being a Marine and knowing I was taking the 5 ton, I decided to go anyways. The trip down was no problem, just slow and stead. The hills...
Hey McGregor! great pictures, she looks right at home in those woods. Nice accommodations in the back. Now that is Camping! I like camping, I just hate sleeping on the ground. I use to sleep on top of the 5 ton canvas cargo top when I was in the Corp.
Think I may take the M813 to Kublos on...
Well GringelTaube That was helpful and constructive. I will not get into the typical back and forth with you.I am just trying to help the original poster with some helpful tricks that have helped me. Anything is worth a try before you spend your hard earned cash! Dirtygrunt I wish you luck and...
Thank you Capt. Marion for the constructive way of advise other members on searching Steel soldiers archives. Nothing worse that seeing the same guys saying the same thing about "use your search feature" I think I will give that a try! Cool
Changing big tires is not that hard if you know what you are doing. Well Ok! supersingles are heavy. But this is what I have learned. First of all you said that you are using one piece rims? You are also using 395 R20 MILITARY TIRES? I would check to see if 395 will work on one piece rims. If I...
I have been researching making locking hubs. Here are the problems I see with regular Deuce style locking hubs.
1. they will stick out and will be vulnerable to damage.
2. a 5 ton weights 20,000 lbs plus and that is at a stop.
3. little pieces of brass and aluminum are expensive to machine.
4...
Nice job 1943 HT! I like your cross over. They said it COULD NOT be done! Way to go! The fender brace is a great idea and It helps support us when we are up there too.
Banger try 100Dollarman - Military Surplus Home! he has what ever tire you want on Deuce wheels. I recommend you do a search online, type in the size and make of tire you want then surplus. There are a lot of dealers and some of our SS brothers selling tire for fair prices. I know there was a SS...
I thought that rebuilding a turbo would be harder than that! Great job with the pictures. You are taking the mystery out of another area of MV mechanics. Thank you
I am looking at purchasing some 1400 R20 tires from surplus. I was told that they have Michelin XL and Goodyear AT-2A. My question is which model tire would be older. All of them have plenty of tread. I have some 1400's now that have plenty of tread, but they have some weather checking on the...
I have been a glazing for 10 years and I say, just take the whole window down to your Glass company. They will replace the glass and seal up the metal frame. leave glazing up to the glaziers. They have the tools and the materials to make it work Or go buy another one. I say get a price to fix it...
What is the word on " driving a 900 series truck" I would imagine you would need a CDL to drive them in any state. I don't think they are old enough for Antique status either. The 900 series are awesome but I am happy with my M813 for now.
I went to the Quonset Air Museum MV show yesterday. There was a nice turn out. I don't think that they could handle any more vehicles. I spoke to some of the guys who repair the planes and I might make some panels for some of the planes. I will go again next year. Here are some pictures.
