Let me see what I can wipe up. You are basically sandwiching the cable between two boards. I have seen this on older winches. I would imagine Hardwoods work best and last the longest. I need to make one for my winch anyways.
Just clean them up good, put the part back on and paint them in place. That is what the military did. I put anti-seize goop on all my bolts too. If you want the bolt to be a different color? sandblast them and blacken them. It is a acid etch/anodizing solution for guns and hardware.
Hey Dikwks check out the Alt fuel section on this site. If you are going to store a bunch of WMO I recommend that you get metal shipping container to store the oil in. I would weld and seal a 6 inch lip across the doors, just in case something lets go. I am sure you will not watch your filter...
I bought a gear reduction lug wrench. It will take or brake any nut off. It took off my lug nuts off, that a 1" impact won't move. Just be careful that you are going the right direction with the lug nuts. I spray all hardware with PB Blaster before I try to loosen anything, put anti seize goop...
Maloney, was your 109 van/box on a deuce or a 5 ton? I just bought the 5 ton with a 109 box on it. The box is pretty beat and would need a bunch of work. Please let me know if your goes back up for sale. If I can't find a good box, I may make mine a tractor and put a 400 cummins in it with a...
Oh Man! people should really plan this stuff better. Who is going to these shows and which one is better. I could always use some parts, so I am going to a show with a swap meet. I may have some tires to sell too.
I wanted to post this quote from WarrenD "Welcome to SS. There is an MV show (with flea market) at the Quonsett Air Museum on Sept 24/25 sposored by the RIMVCC. Looks like your not too far from there (closer than me, for sure!). Gilbert is coming up the following Fri/Sat and is one of the...
I have looked into adding a plow to my five ton. I think you are going to find that a 10 ft wide plow is going to be a little narrow for a five ton. It is fine if you are plowing with the blade straight and in a straight line, but I don't think you will be able to angle it much without your...
I am a metal Fabricator. I have built custom truck accessories and have done lots of welding repairs on customers vehicles. The older trucks you can get away with not disconnecting the battery as long as you grind a spot on the work piece as close as possible to the area you are working in...
It must have been fun, but what dumb asses! Can hear him calling the Marines to bail them out. " Send in the Marines and have them bring bigger trucks" he said. NO! WE WILL BRING BOATS. HAHArofl
Welcome abroad! What size generator are you looking for. I don't know NSN's. I know where there is one that came off a 5ton van body. It is in the Stoughton area.
I have just posted some pictures of the color I think your talking about. I will post them up here. In the picture you can see a original USMC Jerry can that has been in storage for 30+ yrs. It was covered in oil so the paint on it was Mint! I painted the test area with Sherwin William premium...
