Wet with what? Fuel or oil? If the oil looks and smells like fuel, the injector pump is leaking fuel into the oil. The oil level goes up, and at some point you have oil/fuel in the jugs.
The click you hear is maybe one of these relays. Ad a click is not assurance that it works.
1. KBI Sensor switch.
2. Starter lock out.
3. Starter Repeat Lock out.
What gen set? Look at the LO for the gen set that you are thinking about. And also keep in mind that there are ways to test coolant to see if its still good.
