    What tools should I buy?

an extend set of tools is all you really need for these trucks unless you really plan on tearing into it and the list would be a mile long. about the few that i would say would be an injector socket,a flex head 15 rachet wrench, a good multimeter, GM hub socket, Vaccume guage and thats about...

    CDR Valve air oil seperator

i have been thinkin for awhile about something a seen a few months back in diesel power magazine. in the article they were installing a crank case ventalation filter for a 7.3 power stroke. the kit is basicly an air/oil seperator that keeps crankcase oil from getting back into the intake. the...

    anyone know 6.2's ?

check your CDR valve.. if the rubber has worn out in it that will also make it ticking noise like that. does it make this noise at idle or only when driving... if it does not make the noise in park you can almost rule out engine and search else where... if it makes it at idle paked just...

    CUCV Starting issue

it sounds like you have a whole lot of problems going on here.. the electrical side first.... how gooad are your batterys.. not just voltage but your CCA, how old are they... if in doubt charge them. squalling belts would be from your alternators from trying to charge your batterys. check...

    B5 Diesel

You will be fine running the B5 diesel. The way your injection system is made to handle dry fuels like JP8. The Amsoil stuff is great but i would not be using it every fill a lil goes a long ways. the bigest thing would to always carry a spare fuel filter with you. and life should be good.

    water jacket

If you are crafty enough just get some 1/4 -5/16 flat stock and make them using the gaskets for a template and they will work just fine.

    What are your coolant temps?

I have had this on my own engine. after i replaced the heads with some newer 6.5 cylinder heads I hooked a temp guage in the head and one in the cross over. the temps in the cross over where 10-15 degrees higher then in the head. so all in all i just went with the one on the cross over and...

    Slight Engine Tapping

the worst part of changing the lifters is removing the fuel lines and valve covers. Once those are off remove the rockers, pushrods, the lifter retainer plates. the lifters are hyd roller lifters. GM makes a tool to remove them with out pulling the heads off.. just takes some time to fish them...

    alternator problem

sounds like the alt is good. i would start chasing wires and looking for bad connections and possible blown fuse links.

    wiring inverter to 2nd battery

IMO i would still run it off the front battery. I would just run a new cable to the rear buss bar. have all 3 terminals ground, +12, +24 . even though you have your winch tied into the front battery, odds are you are not going to be opperating both the winch and the inverter at the same...

    another starting question

yes the relay that you are hearing is a solnoid on the firewall the powers the glow plugs. you shoudl hear it cycle a few more times after the truck is started. if it is taking a while to start the more then a minute you should check your plugs.. they may not all be working properly.

    Signs of an old motor?

first off pull an oil sample..and send it to get tested... that is the best way to see how much wear you have going on in your engine......pull the glow plugs and do a compression check on the cylinders... this will tell you if your rings are wearing
