MEP-002A Low / High Hz frequency question

60 Hz is std for USA alt current. Running at 48 or 64 Hz probably won't hurt genset, but you increase the chances of damaging your appliances the more you deviate from the 60 Hz. I am no expert, but your question may reflect a incomplete understanding of what you have. Please check out TMs...

STE/lCE tester- what do they do and do they exist anymore?

The test harness unplugs from the engine harness behind the air cleaner. But then you have exposed connections. If you cut test harness you have hot leads under dash. If for some reason the plug bothers you, you should just unbolt it and wire tie it under dash.

Sensor is a 2 prong thermal switch on right (passenger side), way in the back, behind the exaust manifold.

If you are bidding In the next few days

Its pretty clearly a cucv. I suspect it is hot or at least untitled, or why would seller re stamp data plate? Probably had a title to said 2x4 gasser. I wonder if he got to the vin tag under the windshield as well.

No voltage at cold advance leads - Glow Plug Module faulty?

I'm pretty sure the supply lead to idle speed temp switch is on engine compartment harness, not glow plug circuit. Check TM9 2320-289-34, pg e-5. I had a problem with this once and the wire to the switch was broken, but the insulation was still intact and crimped to switch lead. The...

    Lessons from my 002a

I just got a MEP 002a from GL, it was one of the more tired ones out of Pa last month. The recent WIKI posting on these is very usefull. Went though the usual filter stuff, tank cleaning. I was spoiled with my last year's purchase of a mep 701a, which had over 400 hrs, but started and...

    MEP-002A Testing A1/K1 or CB1?? Huh?

I just got a rather beat up 002a, it had a locked up selector switch as well. I took it part way out without undoing the wires. ( Removed lug terminal panel and fuel tank.) Loosened two nuts that hold switch together and pryed front plate a little loose. Was then able to switch. Put it back...

    Voltage selector switch for 1031?

Ok, I have a board from a MEP 018 10 kw genset I bought on e-bay. My main question is; Should I just use switch and output lugs, or would it be good to incorperate elements of board for better quality power, gauges, ect. I want to hook to 120/240 house power and keep 3 ph capability for...

    How bad is this flywheel?

Ground flex plate teeth are usually caused by low voltage to starter, tired run out solenoid or over drawing starter or combination, (and the conditions are related) If you put in fresh starter, have strong batteries hooked up properly, you may get away with not replacing the flex plate, you...

Just need a little guidance on a 6.2 liter

I bought the same model & year van from GL 2 years ago. My lawn mowing crew uses 6 days a week this time of year. Other than maintenance, the only thing I had to fix was shift circuit in the 4L80e tranny. The Air Force had maintained it well and provided me with a big folder of past service...

    M1008 Fuse Block

It is possible to replace the terminals. If I remember correctly, you need to use something like a jeweler's screwdriver to push down the tabs to remove old terminals. I would take the time to remove fuse box enough so you are not working under dash. I would use a dab of solder on new...

    Voltage selector switch for 1031?

Would the the board or switch from MEP -003 or 004 or any similar 12 lead unit work? In that case it would be a modification others could try as well.

    IP, Fuel Pump and leaks

If the lift pump (primary fuel pump) is leaking, It will often dump diesel into the crank case though the broken diaphragm. Look for too much oil and diesel smell on dipstick.

    What is this?

A place to mount a fire extinguisher, I believe.

    Voltage selector switch for 1031?

Ok, let me re phrase the original question. If I were to have a qualified professional add a voltage, phase selector switch to a 1031 truck, would a switch for any similar or higher amp MEP 12 lead unit work and would it be wired similarly? I know the generator head can be wired to a 240v...

    Voltage selector switch for 1031?

I was wondering if any of you generator experts could recommend a voltage selector switch to wire into my 1031 truck. It has a 12 kw, 12 lead alternator head. It is wired for 208v, 3 phase. Schematics show it can be reconfigured to other voltage/ phases. As many of the MEPs have switches...

    Need FUEL IN WATER SENSOR

The new base should have sensor included. I believe the sensor that is left off the new type base is the STE ICE pressure sensor, which often leaked air, so it was left off the improved base.

    transmission doesnt shift

Would recommend changing filter & fluid. This has never been done on many of these trucks, and the filters clog, especially when they sit. Try this before rebuild.

reassembled column = horn stays on

Make sure you put the spring back in the right order. That is what wheel bottoms out on. Good diagram in TM 9-2320-289-20 P ; figure # 99. Spring is ref # 61. The lock ring mentioned above is critical as well. Good luck.

    Toggle Switch with Green Light

A 1031 I got from GL had a European Nokeia "car kit" to run an older style cell phone antenna, headsets ect. I found a little box hidden away under dash and reserched it on line. It had a green lighted toggle switch.
