I have bought these cheep gear reduction starters both Powerpoint and Wes, or something like that that bought out Wilson..They were made in china, sold with no core exchange for around $170. Auto parts stores can get them as well, then you have someone to deal with when they fail early. The...
RY117 good for 10 starts only
Installed Standard Ignition part # RY117 last week. Thanks to this thread, I was suspicious of these newer units and mounted it on front of dash. So when it failed the same week, I was able to unplug it before anything fried. Am going to use a glow plug...
If the starter engaged and kept spinning. check 1; relay under dash on left is bad, 2; a 12v solenoid was used in starter 3; solenoid spring not put in properly. Anyway, those are my first 3 guesses. Good luck.
If the engine ever had a glow plug break off, this will cause a rap. The affected piston and wrist pin may need to be replaced, a time consuming job, but the rest of the engine is probably fine.
Not sure I agree with you kennyw, 12v fries 6 v plugs almost instantly. There was a resitant circuit in the round civ glow control, diameter of a quarter, about 2 or 3 inches long mounted on rear of driver side head. When these cive controls failed, they put out 12v instead of 6v, and fried...
Many of the civ 6.2s are set up for 12v input and 6v output for the 6v'' fast glow'' plugs. I went to manual glow switch and 12v plugs on them before I ever owned a cucv.
Make sure the end of the driveshaft is bored out for the clutch pilot bearing and you press one in. Some engines from automatics were not even boared out . In my opinion, having owned two manual trans 6.2s and many automatics, the toque curve works better with the automatics, not to say that...
This is 1968 gas Hercules powered . Plate says overhauled by TEAD, mfg of generator says(unknown). I just got this unit from a GSA auction. Looking for basic info and TMs. Looked on this site for a while. I realize this info is in front of my nose, but I haven't found it. Besides TMs, want...
Theoretically maybe, but less of a can of worms if you leave it be. Wherever you cut the main harness you will have hot leads exposed to all your electrical components. To mess with it is silly, and a waste of time, Like others have said, if you don't like looking at the port for some reason...
In cold weather , your older radiator and heater tubes will tend to leak because cold shrinks the rubber and it is old and has lost some of its elasticity. A short term solution is to tighten up your hose clamps. Maybe start to think about replacing all the hoses when you can.
Hope you changed trans filter when you did the fluid. Other than that, these trucks were fleet maintained, some of the stuff that breaks on them may have already been fixed. I leave mine stock and take it as it goes, They can be very dependable if you use them as they were intended.
Will try to post picts of the two I have . One is modified 1028a1 this is a dump truck with a hole in the bed blocked by wood plank, The hoist frame was put on backwards to accomidate gooseneck. This was done by prevoius owner.. one is 2500 dodge pickup with pro installed hitch, just bought...
If your aim is sound deadening, and you have the mat, you should do entire floor. On my pickups I cover the area behind the seat until it gets to the double walled part as well. and going up the sides as wallew mentioned only help. I would caution you to clean and prep any places you put...
