I have an 1008 that I converted to a dually dump truck 11 years ago. The rear end locker still makes a loud clank when I turn with load and one wheel is on pavement and one is on dirt, or similar work conditions.
Yea and I still don't know what that plate in the middle of the right side (not the gas detector or decon mount to the right) I have never seen any clew that this plate was ever used. In the cucvs sold off a decade ago, it was always under the floor mat and insulation. If no one knows what it...
I have gone with both the dash cover and the new dash in different trucks. If the dash is not too badly cracked, I would go with the cover. Some of the all new replacement dashes out gas a plastic smell for a long time. Make sure you get one from a source that other folks have tried and say...
You should extract failed plugs, They can break off and fall in cylender. Often results in wrist pin failure. I have always been able to get swollen ones out by carefully pulling out with wrench and vice grip while twisting them. If one breaks off, remove fuel injector and retrieve from...
Had a problem with a non-working horn on a GL purchase CUCV today. Fuse had been removed. When I put in fuse, horn stuck on. Removed horn relay. Still the horn was on. I suspected a short in harness, removed electrical tape just above horn relay. There is a diode there, in the horn relay...
Find a rust free truck with low miles. You will probably get a good price if you go with a GL auction, but you will have delays, and perhaps some anxiety waiting for your truck to clear. And the there is the shipping or pickup to deal with. If some one in your area has a nice un abused...
I just did another one today in an 82 K-30. One of the aluminum lines on the radiator leaked due to chaffing . Radiator, oil lines , both flexable and ridged are different thread type than CUCV and newer civ 6.2s. Had to change adapters on engine block all the way to and including...
I usually keep a pair of these around as I have several 6.2 s in my work fleet. I used one recently due to fray hole. The one I have left is a Dorman 625-154. The other one, upper or lower is one number different t in last digit. Unfortunatly, is made in china. Hydraulic type fitting, no...
Hi Joe, Thanks for the advice. I have a rusty northern parts truck. a 1008 I got 3rd hand. Cab harness is ok. will use that. Engine harness cut & 12v ed by a former owner, so hopefully can find better one. Probably will run single wheels on front, as this will be a local work truck.
I bought a M 1010 chassis that had been converted by a fire department to a brush truck. They put a lot into this, with duel wheel conversion and hd springs, ideal for a dump body I have. They seem to have had DUVAC problems, with evidence of battery meltdown and fried & cut wires. They added...
Well I just got a cdv700 off e-bay. Paid more for one that was practically unused and recently calibrated (12/09) . It came with books and a couple of test samples, old glass marbles with a bit of uranium for color, and a net ''mantle'' for a Coleman white gas camping lantern. That made the...
If the timing advance and throttle are still kicked up in warm up phase, the 6.2 rattles. Time of warm up depends on temp, but should not be over 5 mins unless very cold. A bad thermostat or temp sensor can extend warm up setting almost indefinatly if it is cold out.
It is not supposed to be always locked, but they can lock up easily. With no load, on hard turns, some "chirping" & hopping is normal. If you are easy on the acceleration, this affect is lessened.
Oem surplus still has filter base with sensors for $60, including filter, this is the correct cucv improved filter base. I have temporarily fixed them by gooing up the old sensor with hard setting fuel resistant gasket sealant, but I got new filter bases for all my cucvs that still had leak...
You probably have an air leak in the fuel filter housing. this is a common problem with many posts about it. If oem surplus still has the improved fuel filter base for sale, that is your best bet, costs about $60 plus shipping.
I bought a model CDV-715 from Sportsmans Guide a few years ago. Did not seem to work, Found markings inside in pencil indicating unit defective & ''rattles''. Company was out of units from that lot a did not offer replacement.
first guess from far away, the #2 alt needs its ground isolated. 2nd, check relay under dash (silver one above ste ice port) lots of info on that in the CUCV info posts.
