What do you think....1979 Kaiser Rotator Boom Wrecker

As far as I know, there are two stops at the limits that just bolt in under the turntable. I have not done this mod to mine though. Nice looking truck for $8k Later, Joe

    Square turn signal lights?

I'm guessing you mean the light guard, not the light itself... My 53 Gasser has round guards on both sides. Later, Joe

Won m1009 going to put m1008 running gear under it:)

Um, no it doesn't... they both use hydroboost, but they are not the same. See PS 407 page 20 http://old.steelsoldiers.com/index.php?full=1&set_albumName=album09&id=ps407_p20_21_CUCV&name=gallery&include=view_photo.php

M1009 to M1008 Bucket seat conversion

There are an extra set of tabs welded to the floor of the Suburban/1010 to make the bucket seats work in it. I don't know if all later 'burbs have them, but my '83 doesn't so I'm going to have to torch out a set from a junkyard truck and have them welded in to convert to buckets. I believe that...

Won m1009 going to put m1008 running gear under it:)

Question, when you put the 1008 axles under the 1009, did you change the master cylinder/booster out with it or were the 1009 parts good enough for the job? Thanks, Joe

Got stuck with commercial plates in ny, whats the weight of an 08?

Well, the transportation data TM 43-0001-31 states that the shipping weight of a 1008 is 5900 but a 1008A1 is 5200. I would find a non DOT scale (moving co, rock/gravel co, truck stop, scrap yard, etc) and see what the weight of it is. If you don't need a slip, some of them will just tell you...

    Glow Plug system..... help

Well the Ford relay is the glow plug relay under the hood and it is cheaper and easier to source than the factory glow plug relay. The controller card is a hard bugger to find... they show up on Ebay from time to time and occasionally the surplus dealers will have them. Later, Joe Here's one...

question on a 6.2 chevy suburban

What year Suburban is this? It is a 1/2 or 3/4 ton? 2wd or 4x4? I paid $1800 for a 1983 1/2 ton 4x4 Suburban with a nearly new Banks Sidewinder kit on it that didn't run. Put a fuel pump on it and a new filter and it runs great (although it has a nasty rear main leak). Unless it's CHERRY...

    Air Force Gun Trucks

The other post about Vietnam Gun trucks had mention (I believe by SasquatchSanta) of a deuce gun truck called 'No Slack' operated by one of the Air Force Civil Engineers RED HORSE units. Does anyone have further information about this truck? How it was marked, which unit had it, etc? Thanks, Joe

    BO switch

The 4 pin switch is a momentary switch that returns to center so yes, it is working properly. And yes, the 6 pin is the Service/Off/BO switch and the 4 pin is the BO drive switch. Later, Joe

    glowplug relay

I got my relay from Checker (Schucks, Kragen, O-Reily)... I just asked for a glow plug relay for a 1996 Ford F350 with a 7.3 Powerstroke. Any chain parts store should be able to get you that one. The Military relay is GLOW PLUG RELAY NAPA - ST85 Or Ford Powerstroke relay NAPA - ECHGPR110 It's...

Where can I find a new engine harness?

I don't think anyone makes a glow plug harness... but I have parts of a harness that I swapped out of my 1009 when I replaced the engine. I could probably cut the one side out so that you could swap yours if you can't find someone local with a parts truck. Later, Joe

    Brake upgrades?

I'm putting 1008 axles under my 1/2 ton CUCV-burban... does anyone know if I have to swap the master cyl/booster too, or can I get away with the 1/2 ton parts? Later, Joe

    Vietm Gun Trucks

A little more information I dug up, there were 5 Red Horse Squadrons in RVN... 554, 555, 819, 820, 823 The 819th Civil Engineering Squadron (Heavy Repair) organized at Ban Sattahip Royal Thai Air Force Base, Thailand on 8 March 1966 and deployed to Phu Cat AB, South Vietnam in May 1966. It...

    Vietm Gun Trucks

    Tow Dolly a M1008

As far as I know, the 1008 will not fit between the tires of a standard dolly. From the pics, it looks like the truck is really complete and probably just has dead batteries. Also, I would not towbar or dolly tow a 1008 with a 1009 for any real distance due to the weight difference between the...
