Does it stop spinning when he turns off the key? If so, it's not the relay under the dash.
If not, then it's probably the relay. Under the dash beside the round diagnostic port, there is a small silver box bolted to a bracket with two black cube relays. That is the starter relay. Unplug it and...
I agree with Michael... it looks like you have a switch bypassing the entire relay, that's not good. What you need to do to keep it manual is eliminate the white wires entirely and run a wire from the post with the blue wire to a momentary switch, and from the switch to ground.

Ok, I retract a little bit of my last post... the only thing that is NOT correct on that GPR is whatever the white wires with the yellow terminals are.
Where do those go? They are not part of the original wiring.

That is the glow plug relay, it should show 24V on the top post and nothing on the bottom as you describe when they are not engaged. To test the relay, ground the blue wire and the relay should click and you should get 24V on the other post. That 24V should quickly decrease to about 14 or so...
The relay doesn't care which terminal the wires go on, as long as both 12V are on the small ones and both 24V are on the big ones.
Black and purple/white on the small terminals
Red and purple on the large terminals

If you click on the Resources link at the top of the page and then select Technical Manuals, you can locate and download the CUCV manuals from this site. You are looking for the 9-2320-289 series of manuals.
Here is a direct link to the -20 unit maintenance manual...
I have started my 816 with my Land Cruiser a couple of times... it just needed a little extra help because it was cold... Connect to only one battery at a time, let it charge for a little while, then move to another if they are all really low.
On a CUCV, the system is different because there is...
I did a quick search for Flasher Protector and could not come up with a post describing this item. Could someone please post me a link to the post describing it and/or provide instructions on how to make one myself?
Thanks,
Joe
I believe that was his point... if the towbar had come completely loose, the deuce would have been an unmanned projectile that could have caused serious damage.

While we're on the subject of Allisons, I've got to refill the tranny in the 936A2 and was wondering if what the Allison rep said about using C4 ATF in it held true for that transmission too?
Thanks,
Joe
I have seen one or two 6.2/SM465 combos over the years... mostly they were in 1 tons, but I did see one 85 K5 that had one.
I'd love to have the side windows out of that cap if you're not going to use them, but I'll bet shipping out here would be prohibitive.

Any commercial truck accessory shop that installs PTO driven devices (like dump trucks and wreckers) should have the proper bracketry and control components to add a hand throttle to your truck.

See PS 407 for the info on how to add a hood lock.

Just went through this with my 936... they are the same as a civilian brake cage bolt. NAPA can order them and you do need one per rear brake drum.
