1:40 AM and the rear end is back together... Damn that KICKED MY ARSE!!! I think it took longer to strip, rebuild, paint, reinstall the brakes, flip the hubs, etc than it did for me to do the whole frame job... Man Im whooped!!!
Will reinstall it tomorrow and then spend about 10 hours cleaning...
Well here we go... 24 or so hours after cutting the wheels off I have the springs slung... Will take a few more hours to get the rear end stripped of paint, reassembled with new bearings and gaskets and painted but so far its gone pretty quick for working alone. I have about 14 hours "working"...
Ah... no fight there your 100% correct on the strength of a C beam... Very valid and truthful point but consider what I am building for. If I were building something more monsterish like yours, different story! Middle of the road build I would put the frame cut in the middle of a cross-member...

This is the one I bought (frist unit) but I was willing to fight through the hassle of both heat and AC with defrost. The...
I wish I was bright enough so I could claim the idea but a few guys far smarter than me with much more experience taught me this a long time ago, same guys that do or help me do the fancy sheet metal work up in Orlando. (Fauver Machine and Welding)...
I had bought a boat years ago and needed...
Ha!!! Its about time that I got around to doing something I PLANED on doing for a change... I will get some trany pics up with the tech article so I will skip them here and get on to the frame finally...
In the pics below I have removed the harness, airlines, etc... I whacked off the rear...
Yeah and no... You would have to grind the snot out of the new filter bracket to fit it into the radius of the old filter bracket bend... Possible yes but I usually avoid stuff like that when I can and having that bracket away from the alt makes it a lot easyer if you have to pull it.
You...
Ryan,
I have piles of steel and im sure you proably do also but a lot of people don't so I figured using the existing bracket would be something anyone could do without having to go to home depot and fork over 25$ for a 6 foot piece of 2" angle... Especially when you only need 3 inches! Though...
As were all are whom we are this debait will rage on forever... However I just swapped my trans over to Synthetic today and DAMN what a diffrence in shifting!!! More like a Ford Ranger than a Deuce!!!
RE: Re: Deuce Transmission
After seeing my TC I say detent also... However you should go one step further and clean up the shift linkage's swivel points also. That bouncy bouncy bouncy flipidity flopitidy flip (say that fast 3 times) is what is screwing up the detent to begin with.
I had...
Found out some really cool news from a glass shop today...
I've been looking into making my own windshield frame since this posting and turns out... Ya don't need it!!!
The way auto glass is installed today is with glue, they don't use gaskets or seals... Just glue... The little black strip...
Great trailers... Ya gotta get something green in front of it though!!!
Scroll up and click the search link at the top of this page, there are a billion parts vendors mentioned in here... Also update your profile and put your location in the signature so we know where you are.
If your in a pinch (like most of us seem to get into MOST of the time) you can use a sharp chisel on a corner of the nut and give it a few good smacks in the LOOSENING direction which will spin the nut off... Not pretty but I have air hammered off some large nuts like that over the years...

Just flush the lines with some mineral sprits, carb cleaner, etc and give it a good blow out the an air hose to make sure there is no debris in the line. For the coolant side (shouldnt need cleaing if it is a recore but), if needed you can lay the radiator on its back (inlet/outlet facing up)...
