Is it safer to wear seatbelts, or not?

To wear or not wear seat belts, I'm not going to call names or anything like that just a simple true story. A Few years back I stopped at the scene of an accident that just happened, a woman that resembled a bundle of rags had been ejected thru the windshield of her Cherokee and was laying in...

    Transmission stall? Torque converter?

I think the answer is right there in your post "The motor wouldn't rev up ", your not going to be curb hopping if your engine is performing poorly.

    LMC Truck polyvinyl floor covering

I used one in a 4x4 civilian truck and it fit real good, so good that I bought a second one for a project truck. That one sat for a couple years rolled up in the shipping box in the attic of my garage. When I went to use it it had cracked and split under it's own weight! Your mileage may very.

M1009 suddenly only crawls, eventually tops out at 35 MPH.

Fuel is a long shot unless you got gas instead of D2, accidents do happen. Check the lift pump pressure, from my experience when that goes bad it's hard to start not so much your symptoms.

    350 swap with 4speed bulldog

I did something like what your wanting years ago, IIRC it was easier to change the in cab harness than to try to mate them together. I ended up with power windows and lock too as a bonus. The taillight harness I believe plugged into the civvie on no problem. What the heck is a "bull dog"...

    CUCVRUS Repair Projects

If I found that at a yard I'd snap those seats and console up and stash them in the attic for a future project.

Courtesy Lamp/Tail Light Fuse Keeps Blowing - Cannot Figure Out Why - Need Help!

Salt water dosn't just cause rust it also is conductive. I doubt thats all of your problem but could contrubute to it. I've worked on similier problems and most time found the offending wire in the back where someone else hooked up a trailer plug or probed the wire and broke the insulation.

    M1008 Plow Question

Around here if you keep an eye out you buy a Western cable type for $500 or less, everybody wants a quick mount. The last truck I sold went with an 8.5' Western with extra pump, cylinders and some odd ball stuff and it had some rust but not bad. That would've been worth about $500 off the truck...

    M1008 Plow Question

A used plow from Craigslist should be pretty cheap even this time of year, between my son and I we have atleast 4 good serviceable plows for Chevy square bodies. Now a days nobody wants them and their not worth much more than scrap price.

1986 CUCV M1009 Decade after being wrecked.

"I also wanted to do some design of a striker for the tailgate torsion rods to rest on. I came up with a grade 5 1/2" bolt a steel sleeve and a shock bushing". What an exelent idea! I hope you don't mind if I 'borrow' it.

    Cucmino

Sure the 6.2 will drop right in and bolt right up useing stock mounts and no need to drill holes or fab mounts, cooling and exhaust would be problem as the CUCV rad probaly won't fit. Exhaust you may be able to use a modified small block Y pipe. Make sure you use a diesel tourqe converter and a...

New M1010, free parts offered, some needed

A company called AUVECO has been around forever selling automotive hardware to body shops and auto parts suppliers, If you check around with your local automotive paint suppliers they may have a catalog. They sell weatherstriping by the roll in all sorts of shapes, sizes, and mountings. If you...

Losing fuel prime many things done already, still won't run unless bled

I've found air leaks by pressurizeing the fuel system. You will need a couple of shop rags, some clean card board, and an air compressor, regulator and hose and blow gun. Place the cardboard under the truck all the from fuel filler to core support, then set the air pressure regulator to about...

M1009 lights only Left side no Right.

If none of the lights are working and you do have power at the bulbs then it has to be a bad ground, should be a black wire going to the core support with a star type washer on each side.

    M1009 Exhust system

Studs do and will break, PIA but you do what you have to. I've used 3M spray galvanize made as a weld-thru primer, it's not cheap and has a LOT of zinc that means you have to shake and then shake it some more. I believe it helps it last but my exhaust seems to rust from the inside.

    PO modified starter circuit questions

"orried that feeding 24V to a 12V solenoid might let the magic smoke out." that's for sure! 12v to a 24 starter will activate the solenoid but will not turn it over and will cause the starter to stick and 'lock up' the engine. I know this from a guy that gave me a "blown up 6.2 and it runs like...

    Dash pad help.

I saw one kinda like that but the owner filled the holes and indents sanded it then sprayed some kind of texture coating on it, looked kind of like a pebble grain . Looked pretty good.

    Volt Meter Bulb Socket Question

I had a similier thing happen and somehow lost the spring and considering the bulb was bad already I just replaced the whole thing with a side marker socket like on the front fender. Just used the bench grinder and carefully ground the plastic socket down to where it fit into the hole and used a...

    CUCV more questions than answers...

Just an FYI, door bottom patch panals are made to fit OVER the existing door skin. I always cut the rust out when useing them but only used door bottoms as a last resort like on a 56 Buick. By the time you buy the panels and cut weld and do all the bondo work even to a semi exeptable state for...

    Cucv roof rusted through

The outside is an easy repair but the inside.. well, not so easy. To do it correctly you might have to get into the A pillers and that's where the real liability problems come in not to mention the "how the **** do I do this" ! Depending on how far left and right the rust is (hopefully it's...
